Omnibus and another Hydra – the McCabe and Obama’s Justice Department corruption

Clarice Feldman deals with two Washington Swamp Hydras in her column today

You may have noticed we are ‘uncharacteristically’ furious about the Omni-BUS bill. (Under which conservative voters have been thrown.)

We blame Ryan and McConnell, first and foremost, but we are not real happy with The Donald either, right now.

At any rate, last night on Watters’ World, Kellyanne was on, and for the first time we can recall she was embarrassing!

Watters called the administration out for its gross capitulation on the bill. Kellyanne was almost irrationally defensive.

Naturally she and Trump’s ‘excuse’ for folding was that funding the military was essential, and this was the only way the Democrats would ‘give it to him’!!!

AND THIS IS THE GREAT NEGOTIATOR”?!

Sorry. Ain’t buyin’ it.

The real message in all this should have been, Washington establishment, Dems and GOP: “We don’t give a sh-t about the military or national security, except to the extent we can extort money for Planned Parenthood, sanctuary cities and PBS leftist propaganda.”

Having said that we do pay attention to those normally our betters and that includes Clarice Feldman at American Thinker who opines towards the end of her weekly column in defense of Trump signing the omnibus:

“And the refusal to veto was a responsible choice for, among other things, our military is in desperate shape and the Democrats had a hook — funding it only through this bill;”

“It is dispiriting in the face of so much administrative agency corruption to see on the internet so many people critical of the president for not vetoing the bill. He needs us now, for if he fails in the sweeping out of this evil, we are truly doomed, with the Constitution relegated to a merely historic document from a better age.
“The bill, as it turns out was truly bipartisan:
“Extraneus explains:

The House passed the $1.3 trillion omnibus spending bill, 256-167, with 145 Republicans and 111 Democrats voting “yes.” The “no” votes came from 90 Republicans and 77 Democrats…

In the Senate it was 25 Rs and 39 Ds for, with 23 Rs and 8 Ds against.
So, a majority of Rs voted for the bill in both chambers.

I think a veto would have been a bad move, even if sustained. It was a bipartisan bill and Trump would clearly have been responsible for any resulting shutdown, and would have been without the backing of either chamber’s leadership, who were enthusiastic supporters of the bill.

“And the refusal to veto was a responsible choice for, among other things, our military is in desperate shape and the Democrats had a hook — funding it only through this bill;”

But how does it come to this from Republican leadership in Congress with tools at their disposal in conjunction with Trump?  Clarice is too taken of “bipartisan”  in her effort to defend Trump. It is not bipartisan, it is one party big-government with different facades. We think Trump could have safely vetoed with an appropriate veto message and protected himself politically and better exposed the one party system to conservative advantage. Maintain his creds by “insisting” that this first run-through was unacceptable without more “good will”.  So it is returned for a 1 or 2 % cut across the board on the non-military aspects and ideally certain other specific eliminations. Why allow that this was the best they could do. How does the swamp get the political upper-hand by refusing a 1 or 2 % cut?

Clarice’s column however dealt with two discernible topics.  Indeed she concentrated on  Mainly McCabe and the corruption he was part of.  Her reportage benefits nothing from us. We commend it to you for its always enriching clarity.

One Response to Omnibus and another Hydra – the McCabe and Obama’s Justice Department corruption

  1. Couldn’t agree more. Trump was a hail mary pass and now he’s trying to run for inches with seconds left in the game and twenty yards to go. It would be a recipe for failure in football and it clearly is here. Trump didn’t even have to veto it; he could simply have refused to sign the thing to show he wasn’t happy. Signing gives his blessing.

And it disspirits the base while energizing the Dems, and kicks the can down to just before the next election, where the Dems will have even greater leverage. Now was the time to fight this fight, not in September.

Trump isn’t used to having to worry about the optics and he seems to be thinking like a CEO who controls his company. He doesn’t; he controls one of three branches, and he really doesn’t control that because of all the career people undermining his initiatives. He NEEDS to be able to impose his will on Congress, and letting Congressional Republicans squander the good will of the base and the new Trump voters is just crazy.

Trump needs to punish the GOP. He can start by firing McConnell’s wife from his Administration.
