The revolution was in the hearts and minds of the people

And that must be continuously kindled

 

 

The lead-in quote (below) from John Adams escaped me until now.  It is as profound as they come from our Founders. It was part of the Independence day communication from Patriot Post.  It is set forth for that and because Patriot Post is such a valuable organization. The graphic is not from them but from Americans for Limited Government, another fine organization generous with its produced content.  Our comments follow.

“But what do we mean by the American Revolution? Do we mean the American war? The Revolution was effected before the war commenced. The Revolution was in the minds and hearts of the people; a change in their religious sentiments, of their duties and obligations. … This radical change in the principles, opinions, sentiments, and affections of the people was the real American Revolution.” —John Adams (1818)

And thus it remains “in the minds and hearts” of Patriots to this day.
