Our two most “reasonable, moderate, reach across the aisle” Republicans, Lindsey and John (McCain, of course) demonstrated one more time why few on either side of the political/ideological divide take the GOP very seriously.
On FOX Sunday, Sen. Graham denounced Hagel’s nomination as being dangerous and destructive but could not coherently answer Chris Wallace’s question as to why, that being the case, he would not attempt to block Hagel’s confirmation. The best he could do was that the President has a right to his choices!!!!! (Wow! With that thinking, is it really so crazy to suggest we could see Van Jones come up for a key post…EPA perhaps?)
McCain distinguished himself even more as a useful foil for Democrats. On Friday, while it was being reported that a number of Democrats were asking when Sen. Hagel would withdraw his nomination, McCain was out saying that his confirmation was assured. Then, on Sunday, this little gem from the man who helped mightily to put Obama in office in the first place: “No, I don’t believe he’s qualified. But I don’t believe that we should hold up his nomination any further, because I think it’s been a reasonable amount of time to have questions answered”.
Oh that the Democrats would show such deference to a GOP President’s choices! Note their treatment of the John Bolton nomination. And then, what is this about a”reasonable amount of time to have questions answered”????
It doesn’t seem to matter to Sen. McCain that the questions have not been answered…just that a “reasonable amount of time” to stonewall has been given!! Now, who do you think our GOP Establishment geniuses will back if these two clowns were to face a contested primary ? Hmmm? DLH
With the logic these two (McC and Lindsey) profess…Obama has a “right” to place whomever he wants in the most critical posts in our government; and, “qualified?”, that hasn’t been relevant since Obama himself was elected…I think there’s a good chance we’ll soon see Whoopi Goldberg in a Cabinet position.
On the glass half full side McCain did hammer David Gregory hard on Bengahzi. Which is basically the reason for the delay on Hagel, right? They want to know more from the White House about that night on 9/11.

If the “glass half full” analogy arises because the Hagel nomination has been delayed, I’d refer to McCain’s comment that now the vote should proceed because “a reasonable amount of time to get answers” has passed. No apparent concern that the answers have not been given. If one is going to look to Sen. McCain for solace, good luck.
