Obamacare Exemptions; Defunding; Unions and Immigration; Great And Infamous Quotes —
John Fund at NRO writes about the attacks by the usual suspects on Senator Vitter (R – LA) for pushing a floor vote to:
“end an exemption that members of Congress and their staffs are slated to get that will make them the only participants in the new Obamacare exchanges to receive generous subsidies from their employer to pay for their health insurance.”
What Vitter’s opponents fear most is that this fight will penetrate the public’s consciousness. A new poll taken for Independent Women’s Voice, a conservative group, found that 92 percent of voters think Congress shouldn’t be exempted from the insurance provisions of Obamacare. Most voters blame both parties equally for the exemption, which means Republicans will also be hurt politically if it stands. “This is an issue with almost unprecedented intensity,” IWV president Heather Higgins told me. “Republicans have the choice of leading the Vitter parade for repeal or getting run over by it. To duck it will be viewed by their constituents as political malpractice.”

RedState’s Labor Union Report today highlighted that:
Though it is widely known that unions like the SEIU and the UFCW already represent and take dues from illegal immigrants, the plan to legalize and then unionize the millions of immigrants who are currently here in the U.S. illegally has never really been officially adopted as–you know–an official AFL-CIO resolution…until now.
At the AFL-CIO’s convention in Los Angeles last week, AFL-CIO delegates passed Resolution 4 which states that the AFL-CIO will work to pass so-called immigration reform and, more importantly, deploy its resources to unionize immigrants . . .
However, with the AFL-CIO now formally admitting what many have already known–that the goal is to legalize, unionize, then turn immigrants into ‘progressive voters’–one must wonder why any Republicans would support a bill that will lead to their own demise.

Erick Erickson, Editor of RedState continues his important expose on the games being played by the Beltway establishment Republicans regarding defunding Obamacare in spite of polling indicating growing support for conservative efforts :
Inside the Beltway, the DC GOP Establishment has recruited lobbyists and others to make the case for delaying Obamacare, instead of defunding it. They couch it as the same, but there’s a catch — the bureaucracy will still be able to lock Obamacare in and hurt businesses and people. Republican Leaders, with their “delay” effort will let the bureaucrats continue writing regulations for it, they’ll get rid of the Congressional exemption to Obamacare, but they are flat out refusing to fight the good fight to defund it. They are doing their best to muddy the water on tactics, but can’t escape from the fact they don’t really want to fight to defund Obamacare. They’ll let all the regulations creep into place and never get rid of them come January. Delaying Obamacare does not equal defunding Obamacare and none of us should be let the DC GOP Establishment keep the water muddy on this.
. . .
For those who would argue this is just a rejection of the President and the GOP has done nothing — in 2012 the GOP nominated a nothing who did nothing on Obamacare and the public decided it’d rather go with the nothing it knew than the nothing it cared nothing for. Romney refused to focus his campaign like a laser on Obamacare because of Romneycare. But now, people are losing their jobs, their full time status, and their healthcare because of Obamacare. And they’re listening to Jim DeMint and his friends call for defunding it. And they’re hearing their Republican congressmen lie to them saying they too support defunding Obamacare.Yes, it is true, the GOP would probably get the blame for a government shut down if that happened. But if they held the line until defunding happened, they would be rewarded. The public likes winners. And right now “Defund It!” is the winning message. It has boosted the GOP’s popularity and Congress’s approval rating. It will be devastating for the GOP if they show voters just how much they are not willing to fight. It’ll be “read my lips” all over again.
So now it is time to actually defund Obamacare.

Rocker Gene Simmons has the great quote of the day, reported in TownHall and referring to Tim Tebow’s treatment by the dominant media:
”He’s proud to be a Christian, what’s wrong with that? And yet, with sports media and pop culture media, they make fun of his religion. Really? In America? If he was wearing a burqa, they wouldn’t dare say anything But if you’re a Christian, you get to be picked on? What the hell? The guy’s got family values.

And from a Kay Henderson report to Reuters, picked up by Yahoo News, picked up by us from a link from Drudge, came a report about VP Joe Biden’s visit to Iowa this week. The report was mostly just another horse race story about the 2016 elections. What made us gag was something the conservative commentariate should put in their list of egregious quotes from The One, our president, Barack Hussein Obama. Intending to show his neutrality as regard the most talked about contenders for his thrown:
“What I would say to folks out there is we are tremendously lucky to have an incredible former secretary of state who couldn’t have served me better, and an incredible vice president who couldn’t be serving me better,” he said.
What a complete pompous ass
