Republicans in general may be the political beneficiaries but many in the leadership will have little or nothing to honestly claim in furtherance of any of the points made in the articles linked below. Republicans will benefit in many cases by virtue of not being Democrats, not because they helped push a conservative agenda. Nevertheless they will consider themselves political geniuses. Indeed, just like 2010, 2014 could be a very good year for Republicans. Some will just be caught up in the relative zietgist. But never underestimate the power of the Republican establishment to undercut what needs to be an overwhelming year. R Mall
