According to Breitbart News they are.
McConnell and Cornyn are opposing Cruz’s filibuster of the House bill, which is a technical maneuver by Cruz, intended to expose true support for Obamacare. The two senators are saying that they are merely supporting the House defunding bill. They of course presume that any defunding will not pass the Senate and they do not want to risk being accused of “shutting down the government” by joining an effort to thwart Democrat hegemony in the Senate . . . all the while insisting they oppose funding of Obamacare. They are incredible.
Republican opponents of Cruz’s efforts scandalously provide an echo chamber and megaphone to the talking points of the Democrats, continually repeating without rebuttal what should be viewed as a shibboleth against Republicans . . . that it is Republicans who are willing to shut down the government.
First of all the House bill does not shut down the government. It continues everything but funding for Obamacare. It is Democrats in the Senate and the White House who are threatening to shut down government unless they get their way. In that regard the Republican parroting of the Democrat accusation is pathetic gutlessness. Furthermore, as reported by the AP and referred to in these pages, “the truth is the government will not shut down.”
So if the truth is otherwise, then McConnell and Cornyn are propagating a lie to the public and a calumny against Cruz. Some commentaries argue that there is a lot of internecine Republican politics also at work in the matter. Maybe so. But defunding Obamacare is righteous period.

Of course the Establishment GOP is undermining the defund O’Care effort. It’s what they do. Karl Rove admonishes us that the Cruz/ Lee/et al effort is “dumb”. Rove of course has much better ideas. If so, where have those ideas been? Where does Karl Rove wish to lead conservatives and, what are we doing in this handbasket?
