What are the implications of Obama’s decision to hand over the United States control over the “DNS’s authoritative root zone file” to some sort of United Nations type consortium ? Is it the key to Internet intellectual freedom? Does it grant the ability to shut down the Internet without firing a shot or implicate the possibility of some sort of United Nations imposed political correctness on the Internet ?
Charlie C.W. Cooke writing at National Review Online thinks so. In his article Handing Over the Keys to the Internet he provides a good, concise, non-geek explanation of the ramifications of Obama’s latest effort to insure the eventual second rate status of America…his giveaway of Internet control. Makes Carter’s relinquishing of the Panama Canal really small potatoes.
Now, Obama may be turning his attention to returning Manhattan to the “Native Americans”, Louisiana to the “folks” we conned out of it, and, of course Alaska should revert to the Russians. DLH
