Congressman, have you ever heard of the FBI, IRS, EEOC, etc?

. . .  uppity congressman just doesn’t know who he is dealing with.

When Congressman, Louis Gohmert (R. TX), as part of a government oversight hearing asserts that the Attorney General of the U.S. does not believe being held in contempt of Congress is a big deal, that is news.

But when the Attorney General, in this case Eric Holder, who has been cited for contempt but against whom no action has been taken or is expected, fires back, “You don’t want to go there, buddy…never think it was not a big deal to me”, that’s more than just a news item.

I don’t know about other folks but if I were Congressman Gohmert, I would take that as a direct threat by the most powerful law enforcement officer in America. This Attorney General is arguably the most corrupt Cabinet Officer in American history, backed, also arguably, by the most vindictive, dishonest president in American history, and is able to deploy the full and fearsome power of the Executive branch against any American citizen it chooses, and has demonstrated, with the tacit approval of a Congress dominated by his own political party, a willingness to do so.

And not many conservative pundits have had the courage to point this out. One caller to Rush Limbaugh’s show yesterday did make that charge. While Rush did not disagree, he did not vigorously note just how much peril this nation is in when an Eric Holder can blatantly threaten a US congressman in full public view. (And, memo to Congressman Gohmert: Don’t depend on Speaker Boehner to have your back.)

Has the “tipping point” where this Congress might have done something to assert its Constitutional authority passed?         DLH
