Every once in awhile we are able to beat Matt Drudge’s invaluable news aggregation site to an item of interest — earlier we reported the Cook County, Illinois (includes Chicago) voting “irregularity”* originally reported by the Illinois Review. The first stories broke the news without official reaction. But overnight Drudge linked the Fox News “smoking gun admission” follow-up and gave it his banner headline for awhile. We think it should be bannered everywhere.
‘Calibration error’ changes GOP votes to Dem in Illinois county Excerpt:
Cook County Board of Elections Deputy Communications Director Jim Scalzitti, told Illinois Watchdog, the machine was taken out of service and tested.
“This was a calibration error of the touch-screen on the machine,” Scalzitti said. “When Mr. Moynihan used the touch-screen, it improperly assigned his votes due to improper calibration.”
That is an astounding admission of potential vote stealing, intentional or not. But for most of the media the reaction is . . . no story here, move along.

* We use the term “irregularity” with regard to Cook County voting advisedly. When it comes to their practices what is genuinely “irregular” in other localities is “regular” in Cook county.
“Improper calibration”…fancy phrase meaning “rigged”.
