Obama’s Educrats Issue ‘Racial Equity’ Edict To Schools
Education: Just as school boards across the country scramble to meet new federal limits for punishing black students, Obama’s educrats now want them to hit racial quotas for academic performance, too.
Last month, slipping almost everybody’s notice, the Education Department’s office for civil rights issued a guidance letter to 14,000 local school districts that expands “racial equity” beyond school discipline into virtually every aspect of public education.
Breathtaking in its scope, the 37-page edict warns school boards that they have to reach the same equity, based on “disparate impact” statistics, in:
1) advanced placement courses;
2) gifted and talented programs;
You read that right. The editorial goes on to detail some of the requirements and implications. The Obama Administration is a doctrinaire leftist loony bin. Consider as well the push for diminution of standards to accommodate women in strenuous specialties within the military. From The Patriot Post today
. . . First, the ongoing debate regarding roles and standards for women in certain military specialties reflects the Left-driven trend of favoring identity over ability. At the behest of women-in-combat advocates, the Pentagon directed the services to assess the impact of opening male-only combat specialties to women.
Seeking empirical evidence in order to respond objectively, the Marine Corps provisionally opened its Infantry Officer Course to females last year. None of the applicants had made it beyond the first major hurdle – the Combat Endurance Test (a.k.a., Endurance Course) – until three completed it last month. Proponents’ hopes were quickly dashed, however, when all three were dropped soon thereafter for failing to meet standards in subsequent events.
Similarly, the Army recently announced a pilot program at its grueling Ranger School to assess “whether and how to open combat arms military occupational specialties to women.” While the Army’s announcement protests that standards will not be altered to accommodate the females, they would do well to learn from the Marines’ experience.
As females have repeatedly failed to meet combat-tested standards – validating the existing restrictions – advocates have shifted their argument from “you can’t exclude them just because of their gender” to “you can’t exclude them just because they can’t meet the standards … the standards aren’t ‘fair.’” Leftists always have to move the goalposts to meet their objectives . . .
If you are a black person do you want your medical care or bridge design performed by the best or by racial preference? If you are in the infantry, in case you are injured, do you want to bet your life on platoon members with what level of “standard”physical ability?
Extending the theater of the absurd called the Obama administration, there is also recent news that they believe there is a serious shortage of transgenders in the military. They claim that there are “only” 15,000 serving (really????).
Also, we read as above that the military is continually working on new “gender neutral” standards. “Gender neutral”??? Why don’t they just continue to have “standards” unless they are revising them so that both males AND females can meet (lowered) standards?
