. . . maybe for slightly different reasons
Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) called on Democrats in the House to use their leverage and reject a bipartisan spending bill to keep the government open until a measure tucked inside rolling back a piece of the Dodd-Frank financial reform law is removed. “Who does Congress work for?” Warren said in a speech on the Senate floor Wednesday afternoon. “Does it work for the millionaires, the billionaires, the giant companies with their armies of lobbyists and lawyers, or does it work for all the people?”
Warren’s call went further than House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who said Wednesday that she isis “deeply troubled” by the banking measure. The Democratic discontent with the measure could make passing the bill more difficult, as House Speaker John Boehner is not expected to have enough votes on his own.
Ohhh, it is so hard to be compassionate!
Via Fox News — Smith College president sorry for saying ‘All lives matter’
“We are united in our insistence that all lives matter,” read the e-mail,in which she made clear she was strongly behind the (Ferguson) protests, writing that the grand jury decisions had “led to a shared fury… We gather in vigil, we raise our voices in protest.”
But she soon received backlash from students for her phrasing. They were offended that she did not stick with the slogan “black lives matter.”
Of course an apology from her quickly ensued and to the entire student body.
So the left objects to saying all lives matter when to be “correct” she must say “black lives matter”. but Academia is so full of quicksand. Imagine the firestorm from Smith alumni if Madame President had said “Black Lives Matter” in the context of abortion?
Would mentioning the number of black babies snuffed out constitute “shared fury”? Do they matter? The statistics are appalling. Read more about what has aptly been called “black genocide” here.
LeBron down for the struggle
So LeBron James has worn his “I can’t breathe” t-shirt at his team’s basketball game. Does America need to know anymore? LeBron, drafted out of high school to a hugely lucrative NBA career, has spoken:
“It’s not a Cavs thing,” James said before the game. “It’s a worldly thing.” . . .
“It’s just for us to make a [statement] to understand what we’re going through as a society,” James said when asked about the T-shirt. “I’ve been quoted over and over about what’s going on as far as it’s more of a notion to the family, more than anything. Obviously, as a society we have to do better. We have to be better for one another. It doesn’t matter what race you are. It’s more of a shout out to the family more than anything, because they’re the ones that should be getting all the energy and effort.”
There! Now this nation can move forward ! Thanks for being the go to guy for such insight. Now it’s time for LeBron to tell us what to do in the areas of foreign affairs, terrorism, the economy and anything else that can be summarized on a t-shirt. After all, he was the youngest player to score 20,000 points in the NBA.
