Sense of Republican Betrayal Palpable

Reading the many comments posted to a variety of conservative oriented Websites in response to Republican performance on the CRomnibus legislation, we note great dissatisfaction to say the least.  The sense of betrayal and that “the election has been squandered before Republicans are even sworn in” is extensive and deep. This is the text of constituent letter that came our way, sent to a Midwest Congressman, Kevin Yoder,  which relates much of the sentiment we have seen elsewhere. Yoder was one that professed all manner of fealty to the Constitution prior to the election.

Congressman,

Your vote for the Cromnibus bill is not appreciated by this constituent. I am curious, however, as to your motivation. Did you believe that the conservative Republicans in this District, who helped the GOP win a landslide in the mid-terms, voted for you because we thought your “skinny-dipping” episode was cute? Or, did you think that we secretly endorse Obama’s illegal executive action on immigration and wanted also to be sure that Obamacare survived? Maybe you thought it was because we are so pleased with Boehner’s and McConnell’s utter disdain for the Tea Party?

Or, perhaps understandably, you were threatened by the high-minded GOP establishment/leadership that you would lose out on Chamber of Commerce, Karl Rove SuperPac, and/or RNC sources of funding for your next campaign? Or, are you simply incredibly naive, believing what the Speaker chooses to tell gullible voters? Or, with deep reluctance to suggest, are you just dishonest about your beliefs and goals?

Let me quote from a recent letter sent to me by your staff and signed by you:
“The President’s plan to grant amnesty to those who have entered this country illegally is unconstitutional. I strongly oppose his unilateral efforts to ignore federal law and will support any legislative measures possible to stop these actions, including using the power of the purse to defund these unprecedented measures.”

Now, I ask you: Do you really believe what you voted to support in this CRomnibus bill is consistent with your “strong” opposition to Obama’s “unconstitutional” actions and reflects “legislative measures to stop (them)…including THE POWER OF THE PURSE”?

If so, Congressman, the best answer to the question of the motivation for your vote Thursday seems to lie somewhere between the naivete’ and the dishonest.

Yes. I am angry. I am not issuing any threats, however…only the promise that I shall not vote for or support in any way, any future reelection effort you may make. You and your staff are free to respond with “big deal, what’s one vote from a nutty Tea Partier?” Valid point, but I suggest there may be more than just one.   Respectfully, a constituent.
