th-3“The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam.” President Barack Obama

Maybe it’s just me. But, who in the West talks like this: “those who slander the prophet of Islam”?

What does our President even mean by this proclamation?

I’m sure, when he said it, many on the left and at the NY Times considered it a really eloquent and smart expression. I’m sure that those in the Obama administration thought so, too. Probably Attorney General Holder and Martin Dempsey, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff are foremost among them*.

I have a little different take, however. But, of course, I would. I find very little of what Obama says to be either eloquent or smart. Mostly, I think, that about everything that comes out of his mouth must be discounted as either meaningless or intended to deceive.

Nonetheless, this particular comment, I find rather disturbing, if not even ominous. It begs the question:Who does Obama think the future DOES belong to? Does it belong to those who slander Christianity? Certainly, there’s a lot of that, but I’ve not heard Mr. Obama proclaim that the future doesn’t belong to “folks” who do that!

Does the future belong to those who would disregard the tenets of faith of others and make laws which disrespect their beliefs? I think we all know one government/administration which does that.

The phrase “slander the prophet of Islam”. I believe I’ve heard devout Muslims make such a reference to Mohammed, but I don’t recall ever hearing a non-Muslim express reverence in such a way.

But, then, as I said, maybe it’s just me.

* (They are two who are much concerned that there could be a “backlash’ against moderate Muslims if radical Islamist terrorist actions like those of last week in France were to be repeated here in the US or anywhere in the western world. Despite evidence to the contrary, they are so fearful, as their boss, Obama claims to be, that they won’t even suggest that the perpetrators of those acts are part of radical Islam’s ‘war on the west’. Instead, they characterize them as “corrupters of that faith”?)

In spite of damaging it so heavily ourselves, America is the last bastion for defense of Western culture. Clarice Feldman is both eloquent (as usual)  and direct in her latest article for American Thinker:   Je Suis Sick and Tired of Cant   –  She points out in three parts:

  • Liberal Hypocrisy on Free Speech and Freedom of the Press
  • The Sheer Nincompoopery of the Descriptions of Islam by Theologians Obama, Kerry and Dean
  • “Straight Talking”

The later includes recommendations that she is urgent about for dealing with the spread of Islamic radicalism.  Indeed, why is the West talking about limits to political free speech instead of fighting those who would end it?  Her recommendations deserve to be discussed.

Included in her article is a quote from  Moslem Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi who said this week:

Is it possible that 1.6 billion people [Muslims] should want to kill the rest of the world’s inhabitants — that is 7 billion — so that they themselves may live? Impossible!

I am saying these words here at Al Azhar, before this assembly of scholars and ulema — Allah Almighty be witness to your truth on Judgment Day concerning that which I’m talking about now.

All this that I am telling you, you cannot feel it if you remain trapped within this mindset. You need to step outside of yourselves to be able to observe it and reflect on it from a more enlightened perspective.

I say and repeat again that we are in need of a religious revolution. You, imams, are responsible before Allah. The entire world, I say it again, the entire world is waiting for your next move… because this umma is being torn, it is being destroyed, it is being lost — and it is being lost by our own hands.

al-Sissi bravely spoke the truth to the religious power brokers in his own country.
