The following quotes from liberal Democrats (more are available) acknowledge that Saddam Hussein had to be stopped, possessed WMD’s, was a threat to the region, was a mass murderer and a facilitator of terrorism. The attributions have been substantiated. Latter day apologists for current liberal political doctrine, while acknowledging the accuracy of the quotes, bend over backwards to provide alleged exonerating context to these quotes. It is context that is irrelevant to the point, or make distinctions without a difference.
The facts are that Democrats were as informed of the justifications of going to war again against Saddam Hussein’s regime as Republicans. The information and analysis resulted in bipartisan Congressional authorizations. Intelligence services across the globe contributed damning information. Saddam’s constant frustration of inspections could not be ignored. Those inspections were required by the armistice he agreed to in order to avoid destruction of his armed forces after the first Gulf War. His many violation of UN resolutions, justified putting an end to his regime. As a result the coalition of nations that came together was greater than the first Gulf War. 
American military personnel surveyed rivers in Iraq upon securing the occupation. Waterways tested positive for banned nerve agents. Banned precursors and lab equipment were regularly uncovered by US and allied occupation forces. Mass quantities of banned materials made there way from Saddam’s hidden caches into Syria as coalition forces prepared for invasion. all BS – even if NOW we understand there was sufficient reason for a pe-emptive strike, which of course was BS, because we were going into Iraq by hook or by SLAM DUNKER CROOK. NO WMDs were found and we did not leave . all of a sudden the mission statement was “FREE IRAQ!”, and nation building which W. supposedly was against! It was no way worth 4,500 USA and 120,000 Iraqi civilian lives. yes, Saddam was a mass murder idiot…so are about 30 other “leaders” out there. interesting how HALLIBURTON got another (partial) no bid contract. (yeah, alotta Libs say there were WMDs…all of a sudden the COMMEE PINKOZ have something to say, eh?).
