Benghazi again

 This Powerline story,  The Truth about Benghazi Slowly Emerges, by John Hinderaker  is only the latest which outlines clearly all of the corruption and dishonesty surrounding Benghazi.

I recall as early as late in 2012, “rumors” reported by among others, Glenn Beck, about what the station in Benghazi and Chris Stevens were really up to . . . shipping arms from Libya to Syria.  Last September, Sundance had the detailed report on the entire episode, including the fact that the leadership of both parties and both houses of Congress had been briefed all along and could be considered parties to the whole disgraceful deal, including most importantly, the coverup.

No wonder getting the truth about this has been so difficult. While the incompetence and dishonesty of BO and Hillary and the whole administration is the bigger and most dangerous aspect of this outrageous debacle, the GOP’s role is also despicable. I note two things in particular: 1) the appointment of Trey Gowdy and his “Select” committee. Gowdy, wittingly or unwittingly is carrying out a cynical if not sinister farce, aimed exclusively at keeping the facts from emerging, and particularly the GOP’s role, 2) Mike Rogers and his phony report on Benghazi…”nothing to see here’…before leaving Congress to be a “talk show host and collect big bucks (Rogers, of course was one of those briefed on the whole deal).

Years ago, Judicial Watch served Freedom of Information Act requests relating to Benghazi on the Defense Department and the State Department. The Obama administration stonewalled, as always, so Judicial Watch eventually had to sue to enforce its rights under FOIA. That lawsuit has been going on for more than two years, as the Obama administration continued to resist producing relevant documents. Finally, on September 9, 2014, a federal court in the District of Columbia ordered the State and Defense Departments to produce certain additional documents. Those documents have been trickling in to Judicial Watch, heavily redacted.

Despite the redactions, some of the documents are bombshells. This one was sent to then-Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, then-Defense Secretary Leon Panetta, the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the White House’s National Security Council on September 12, 2012, the day after the Benghazi attack. It says, among other things:

Serious “smoking gun” revelation and Republicans leadership is largely, meh.

The attack was planned ten or more days prior on approximately 01 September 2012. The intention was to attack the consulate and to kill as many Americans as possible to seek revenge for U.S. killing of Aboyahiye ((ALALIBY)) in Pakistan and in memorial of the 11 September 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center buildings.

May we humbly ask, if Republican congressional leaders are sincere about their investigation, what the heck more do they need to excoriate Hillary and Obama for lies and coverup?  This is as much a smoking gun as you will get next to Obama or Hillary saying “I personally ordered the cover it up”.

We suppose there are some nincompoops out there who would say,  “oh let it drag out  . . . wait tell next fall when it will do some good”.  On multiple levels that is the loser approach and possibly the continued cover-up approach, and undeserving regardless.

So far just bluster. Pretty bad when an outside interest group can get more answers than a Congressional investigatory committee.

” That the DIA (Defense Intelligence Agency) report (quoted in Hinderaker’s article above) was not released as a result of any previous Benghazi investigations raises additional questions about the administration’s unwillingness to turn over documents related to the attacks and how comprehensive those previous investigations have been. Many of the revelations that have undermined administration claims about Benghazi have come outside of the regular congressional oversight efforts, in part because of the administration’s disinclination to cooperate and in part because of the half-hearted inquiries led by the committees of jurisdiction.

That the MSM and liberals everywhere will try to ignore, cover-up and create diversions to the story is understood.  But why are Republicans so ineffectual?
