Republican establishment candidates are spitting at Trump with the wind to his back — Rasmussen: Americans Agree With Donald Trump on Immigration
Donald Trump is emitting a tone on illegal immigration that resonates well with the majority of likely voters. They have much anxiety over the problems and portents of lack of border control. He is hitting a nerve with the Republican establishment, who are squirming about his candidacy. His remarks about illegal immigration are also shaking up the presidential candidate field causing some of them to come out of the closet, and benefiting those that are not repudiating him.
The clear exception is Ted Cruz who has made the establishment squirm as well with his own demonstrated sense of urgency on the matter. Bobby Jindal seemed to be early and clear in the hubbub over Trump’s remarks, echoing the urgency of border control. The likes of Bush, Rubio and Christie immediately attacked Trump trying to curry favor with no one who will actually vote for them over a Democrat, while continuing their pathetic blather that the immigration system is broken. They are already splitting the big business “cheap labor – cheap servant – push the true costs onto the rest of us” vote. Other candidates are finding their tongues, some perhaps have assured themselves by using it to wet their fingers to test the wind.
The murder of a young woman by a five-time deported illegal in San Francisco Sanctuary City California has helped some of the latter-day commenters determine their positions for now and we hope shamed Bush, Rubio, Christie and some of the others for their pandering to the political correctness police.
Here is a collection of related stories, note the evolution of commentary from previous cluck clucking about Trump and trying to make him the issue, to the urgency of border control and the rule of law being asserted.
