WSJ “heroically” fails to get the point about Trump

So, according to this Wall Street Journal editorial (see below), it’s the “conservative media who ‘applaud’ (Trump) who are hurting the cause”.

Trump and His Apologists

I’m not so sure about that. Of course the Journal reacts with great glee when they see an opportunity to take down Trump. Their fear of the outspoken billionaire is palpable, but it’s not because they’re afraid he’s hurting the conservative cause.

The Wall Street Journal, the US Chamber of Commerce and the GOP establishment are terrified of Donald Trump, and any other conservative candidate who threatens to gore their pet ox.

For the Journal and the Chamber, and many big donors the “ox” is open borders and amnesty for illegal aliens, all for the cheap labor they lust after.

For the Republican establishment, it’s the fantasy they can’t let go of that they’re going to win the votes of the grateful millions of “hardworking, conservative” immigrants who come here illegally and share all those Republican “values”.

For the other GOP candidates who happily and self righteously hopped aboard the “Dump Trump” hay wagon, it’s simply self-serving politics.

For conservatives, and for many concerned Americans the motivations of all of the above are clearly understood. We are gravely concerned about the current state of the nation, and the world.

Get rid of Trump and you get the huge issue, so direly in need of addressing…border security and illegal immigration…”off the table”. Reince can then go on to pontificate about the GOP’s rosy future, Rove can show on his white board how many votes the establishment’s “sober” approach to immigration is going to win millions of new voters, and the “get Trump” candidates can settle back and hope Jeb will offer them a Cabinet post.

No one denies that Trump’s words were ill-chosen. As he has conceded, McCain can legitimately be considered a “war hero”. He can also be proven to be the furthest thing from a conservative, and another undeniable truth is he was an awful presidential candidate.

A reader here at Veritaspac noted that McCain campaigned harder against his own party’s “down ticket” candidates than he did against Obama.

America better pray that Mr. Trump does not leave the presidential race very soon. As long as he is in it and raising the issues America is really concerned about and that includes an administration which has no knowledge of the “Art of the Deal”, candidates of both parties will have to seriously address them.    DLH
