Movement afoot to demand full bore support for LAUDATO SI’ !

  • Battle cry — Mitigation begins here, now!
  • No more tepid Catholicism in air-conditioned bourgeoisie churches
  • Glistening in the pews, new sign of solidarity with Sister Earth
  • Code Pink to throw blood on AC compressors?
  • Scandal! Why were windows up on Nuns on Bus bus warm weather trips?
  • No carbon credits no Communion — step too far?

Inspired by the most recent featured column by Fr. Bud Grant in the Davenport Catholic  Messenger,  Climate change consequences are for real,  we are now on board with the urgency to mitigate mankind’s utter rapacity toward Sister Earth. Chicken little theology, Gaia theology, whatever you want to call it, it has been endorsed by none other than the Scientist Pope and that is good enough for everyone. SCIENCE AND THE POPE HAVE SPOKEN! Inquiry and criticism must now absolutely stop as it is interfering with the urgency of remediation.

BISHOP AMOS  —  DO THE RIGHT THING — TURN OFF THE DAMNABLE AC NOW!

Solidarity must be expressed with action. We are not calling for Catholic hospitals located in the Diocese to turn off their air-conditioning. While that may seem less than orthodox we figure Obamacare’s health-care rationing strategies will take care of that. But for Gaia’s sake, if Bishop Amos has any loyalty to the spirit of the Pope’s encyclical, he should order the AC turned off in parishes and every other building under his control.

The Pope has determined that heretofore we have been failures.  In his very words:

55  . . .  People may well have a growing ecological sensitivity but it has not succeeded in changing their harmful habits of consumption which, rather than decreasing, appear to be growing all the more. A simple example is the increasing use and power of air-conditioning. The markets, which immediately benefit from sales, stimulate ever greater demand. An outsider looking at our world would be amazed at such behaviour, which at times appears self-destructive.

Since the Pope has taken a dim view on air conditioning, the non-carbon producing flabella are the ecological sound solution for all your cooling needs

“Since the Pope has taken a dim view on air conditioning, the non-carbon producing flabella are the ecological sound solution for all your cooling needs” http://catholicnewslive.com/story/533674

Notice the Pope did not merely suggest reducing power consumption, he ridiculed the level of air-conditioning use. There is little wiggle room in the Pope’s encyclical. We expect Father Bud to organize students to picket parishes and demand that air-conditioning be turned off. No half-way measures. Take the damn things out. And no recycling of the copper and metal.  We will not fall for that dodge under the light of Father Bud’s sobering article. Return the copper and other materials to the earth.  Animal drawn carriages*  should be loaded with the materials and a procession headed by Father Bud should head down to Chile for an internment ceremony and hopefully expiation for our sins of scarring the land.  It is the right thing to do.

By the way, we understand Father Bud has already unofficially renamed vespers held under his pastoral guidance to “vapors.” It was said to be done in sad reflection of the CO-2 (and other noxious gases) he and participants have expelled each day,  living or working in air-conditioned comfort despondency.

This is not about Saul Alinsky, it is about saving the planet and increasing church attendance

Lest there be any confusion, readers are admonished to understand that we are also on-board with this as a way to increase church attendance. We scientifically note that back in our youth none of the parishes we attended, which by the way offered more masses,   had air-conditioning. And they were well attended.  With the almost uniform installation of air-conditioning we have also noted less attendance.  Ergo air-conditioning has a high correlation with decreased mass attendance. For us the conclusions is as inescapable as the Pope’s climate science.  Air-conditioning reduces mass attendance.

Prior to our conversion to the religion of Gaia, as a conservative operative we might have been accused of parroting one of the Patron Saints* of this Dioceses’ social justice apparat–  Saul Alinsky. One of the things they so admired about him included his methodology of fomenting and seeing to the actual implementation of social change including his teaching to the effect  “Make the enemy live up to its own book of rules.” Well the rule has been laid down by the head ordinary – Pope Francis.  He is not the enemy of course, only those recalcitrants who drag their feet in implementing critical change. We must make them live up to the rules.

Regrettably Bishops can be slow on the uptake, and those that are on board might appreciate the push just to help with the dead wood in the chancery and deaneries.  So that is our sincerest motivation. Help “Father Bud” and hopefully the Bishop do the right thing by pushing for CHANGE NOW.  Sister Earth has been raped, plundered and pillaged. No more “Devils dung” in the collection basket from filthy capitalist perps AND NO MORE AIR CONDITIONING.

Now the diocese priestly class has particular responsibilities in this matter along with the social justice apparat. They don’t need a Bishop’s order to turn off the AC in the rectory and if I ever see one of them driving with the AC on in that most vile of polluters the automobile, I swear I will throw my self in front of it.

. . . Hmmm what are all those clergy-stickered cars doing idling outside my house?
