If there is genuine concern for the nation’s integrity

. . .  a proposal from DLH:

Setting aside for now the issue of what to do with the 11 million or so illegal immigrants  said to be in the United States , our political leadership must take certain logical and politically doable steps to stop the flow that are entirely consistent with nationhood and protecting the interests of American citizens:

1) do away with the absurd “sanctuary city” concept. Any city attempting to do this, subject to whatever sanctions necessary…”defunding”, DOJ suits, even prosecution of city officials who defy federal law.

2) suspend all the various benefits doled out to illegals…”free” healthcare, subsidies for a whole range of things , instate education tuition; provide instead the same level of benefits available to them in their home country (how much more compassionate can you be?); require registration of illegal employees as identified by employers…not for specific purpose of deportation, but for issuance of ID’s clearly noting their status as non-citizens, allowed to work, subject to certain conditions. Failure to comply by employers would result in severe sanctions, fines, etc; failure by aliens to comply by some date certain would result in immediate deportation; illegals currently with stolen or fake Social security numbers would have opportunity to turn them in and be issued the appropriate ID; Illegals currently here would be provided a “path” to certain benefits and status similar to that of US citizens but would not be eligible for actual citizenship…ever! Primary among US citizen benefits not available is voting rights; anyone attempting to vote illegally would be immediately deported.

3) Of course, “secure the border” but in a very serious way, including warnings to those attempting to invade our country that a crossing is very perilous. US will not provide water stations or “comfort” facilities in the desert. Those apprehended attempting to “invade” will be detained pending an ID check to determine possible intent and to identify those attempting repeated crossings. The latter could face prison time to discourage others from simply repeatedly attempting to violate our borders.

4) “Birthright” citizenship will be recognized according to current law. This provision will be immediately discontinued, however, and will not apply to children born here after date of change. Any illegal alien family deported because of subsequent violations of laws will be permitted to take minor children of birthright status with them back to their country of origin. Birthright children age 16 or over may opt to remain in US as citizens. There is no intention on the part of US government to break up families. Only the family can make that choice.

5) Where there is concern among some American people regarding the necessity to enact and enforce these measures, the case should be easily made when one considers the corrosive effects on a democratic society from providing benefits to its citizens so generous as to permit a large percentage of them to not work while many foreign-born migrants and illegal aliens occupy jobs which would be available to citizens, simply to allow employers to pay low wages. That makes no sense to any  sentient being, unless one has another agenda.

6) Donald Trump has articulated effectively so many of the concerns of “ordinary” Americans. When he says if you have “open borders” you don’t have a country. Not only is that thought shared by many Americans, it makes absolute sense. When the “law” is nothing more than what a president says it is,  you don’t have a country, you have a 3rd world, backwater, tinpot, dictatorship. It might have 300 million inhabitants, but it’s still  riled by a tinpot dictator.

When you have “negotiators” who make “agreements” with implacable enemies of your country who  don’t even know what  is in those agreements, you don’t have “negotiators”, you have “John Kerrys”…and that’s as low as you go on the competency scale.

7) When you regard almost 50 million citizens on food stamps a measure of “success”, you don’t have a country…you have the largest “soup kitchen” in world history!
