Protest triggered in response to video expose of Planned Parenthood selling parts of aborted babies
Good turn-out in spite of minimally advertised event

Helpers of God’s Precious Infants of Iowa, a pro-life group led by Charlie Burke (RIP) Jeanne Wonio, and others have been a regular presence at Bettendorf’s Planned Parenthood abortorium since it opened 15 or so years ago. The particular protest yesterday was in response to recent video revelations by the Center for Medical Progress CMP) which have served to document most directly what pro-lifers have long known (and reported) about the nation’s largest abortion syndicate Planned Parenthood’s involvement with the harvesting and selling of parts of aborted babies.
The CMP videos have been regularly posted in these pages. The increased ease of Internet promulgation and social media which allows bypassing the filters and pro-abortion obstruction of liberal mainstream media, combined with the low cost band width and universality of Internet availability has allowed for substantial distribution of the horrible truth.
The pro-life Women’s Choice Center, purposely built across the street from Bettendorf’s Planned Parenthood, now led by Vicki Tyler, was gracious in helping with logistics for the event. All concerned did a great job in pulling together an event that did not have a lot of lead time as regards publicity. We are fairly wired into pro-life communiques and any specifications as to the event were not clear to us until a few days ago. Certainly there may have been notices we missed but if it had received a threshold of repetitive distribution, necessary to get optimum turn-out, we would have taken note.
That being said the turnout was very good. The vigil/protest was scheduled to last two hours. As is common in such events people come and go during the duration. By my close estimation there were over 250 in attendance at any one time in the street opposite Planned Parenthood listening to the various speakers. With comings and goings the total attendance was easily 300 to 350. Part of the agenda for the attendees upon completion of the speakers and prayer gathering was to proceed to Middle Road and serve as a more visible protest to the traffic on that busy street. By my hard count there were 210 lining the street by about 10:30AM when we left. The amount of horns honking in support was gratifying to all present.
