As we have stated several times in different ways regarding concerns expressed over the substantial (admittedly media driven) polling lead of Donald Trump in the Republican primary race: don’t impune the character of those voicing at-a-boys to someone forcefully advocating policies consistent with Republican platforms across the country and the anonymous sentiment of independents and many blue-collar Democrats as well. That is unless you are intent on losing. Embrace the issues and the plainspokenness that have driven his popularity, and run with them: Stopping what amounts to an invasion of illegals and restoring America’s greatness.
Ted Cruse has done so. Indeed he predates Trump. He is an authentic and consistent champion of conservative values and has demonstrated his commitment to shake up Washington and the Republican establishment.
Listening to (via you tube) Bobby Jindal’s assertive campaign speech at the Iowa State Fair this weekend regarding immigration and reading about his response to pro-Planned Parenthood demonstrators at the Louisiana governors residence we see another strong worthy contender for conservative support.
His 20 minute speech at the Iowa State Fair started with elements of his standard stump speech (a very competent one) but due to the interruptions of protesters advocating for illegal immigrants (essentially at the expense of citizens and against the interests of law-abiding immigrants and those desiring to immigrate) Jindal response should put him in the top-tier of Republican candidates. Writing at Legal Insurrection “Fuzzy Slippers” had this perceptive comment:
It’s difficult not to draw comparisons between Jindal’s passion, dignity, and grace when discussing lawful immigration and assimilation and other candidates who believe illegal immigration is an “act of love” or who speak in condescending platitudes designed to obscure the issue.
On the “restoring Americas greatness” front, Jindal’s closing remarks ( a standard on the stump for him) is compelling “if you want somebody to manage the slow decline of this country, ~~ vote for someone else.”
Jindal’s support for the right to life issue and his state’s decision to defund Planned Parenthood has drawn protesters. Yes there are champions of continuing Planned Parenthood’s racial pro-filing and baby parts selling racket. Read this brief report about how Jindal adroitly handled the protest at the Louisiana governor’s residence this weekend. From Dan Gilmore at Patriot Post
Bobby Jindal Wins This Week’s Social Media Debate
The skirmish began Wednesday when presidential candidate Jeb Bush said the U.S. needs more enforcement against the practice of “anchor babies.” To that, Clinton tweeted, “They’re called babies” in a bold display of hashtag debate. When asked if he thought the term offensive, Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal told Fox News Thursday, “What I find offensive is Hillary Clinton, the Left, when you look at those Planned Parenthood videos — they refuse to call them babies, they call it fetal tissue, they call them specimens. That’s what offensive.” Jindal has generated some controversy in his state because he defunded Planned Parenthood at the beginning of August. When PP supporters showed up at his gubernatorial mansion to protest the decision Aug. 20, Jindal had another headline-grabbing event in store. While the protesters arrived in their pink shirts and signs, Jindal set up a loudspeaker and screen and aired the videos produced by the Center for Medical Progress to explain why he signed that executive order. The protesters stayed their distance, lest they watch the footage.
