This came out last night but we have not seen it as yet even referenced on Iowa’s full-time Republican go-to site The Iowa Republican. The editor was at the Dubuque event where this was announced but did not mention it in his report. Maybe he left before this came up.
Oof: Chairman of Rick Perry’s Iowa campaign quits — and joins Team Trump
That would be none other than Sam Clovis, a stalwart articulate conservative who did extraordinarily well in last year’s U.S. Senate primary on a minimal budget, beating millionaire Mark Jacobs (the initial darling of the GOPe before Joni Ernst got the key support of the governor. Clovis later served as the sacrifice nominee (via convention) for State Treasurer against the multi-term Democrat incumbent.
There is a Clovis connection to Trump’s campaign. Clovis’ former Senate campaign manager Chuck Laudner, a bona fide conservative and former campaign operative and Chief of Staff to conservative champion Congressman Steve King, runs Trump’s Iowa campaign
