As reported in various outlets today, this one from The London Telegraph:
Pope claims Christmas is a ‘charade’ due to continued war across the world
The Pope said that the lights, parties, Christmas trees and nativity scenes of the season are a charade with so much “war and hate”
“Those who make war are damned, they’re delinquents. War can be ‘justified’ for many reasons. But when the whole world is at war, as it is today … there is no justification.”
Huh?
More words of “wisdom” from Pope Francis (this will drive the Vatican ‘spinners’ into high frenzy as they try to tell the “faithful” what the heck he’s talking about). You get Pope Francis and Barack Obama talking and it sounds like a third rate comedy skit. I hope Stephen Colbert books these two for his show on the same night. The sound you hear won’t be clapping, it will be the sound of face-palms.
Pope Francis’ understanding of history and current events seems as deep as his climate science. He decries the world at war as if the level of violent upheavals are unique and for the most part untraceable to something — that religion of peace — Islam. A preeminent fact is that most of the major hot-spots today are the result of jihadism . . . and how are Christians (or Jews) to blame for that other than being Christians (or Jews)?
And to highlight his history histrionics — how is the last couple of decades more warlike than those before it? Now if he were referring to the war on the unborn we could understand his comments in that context but he has already intimated that such talk is an obsession to be minimized so that must not be what he was referring to.
It would seem the Pope’s comments were triggered by distress over the recent mass murders perpetrated by Islamic terrorists. They are evil but the Pope cannot bring himself to point fingers, only that is when it comes to “capitalists.” Instead he talks about the world at fault. Apparently Christians or secular nations fighting Islamic terrorists, not submitting to their religious extremism, obviates the spirit of Christmas?!
By the Pope’s muddled statement the various tribal or secular wars across the globe that have nothing to do with Christianity per se, are also a reason to denounce Christian celebrations of the birth of Christ as being a charade? Other religions do not celebrate Christmas so the only ones that can be guilty of a charade are Christians. But where is the war that Christians started — that is not defensive — the world wants o know. The Pope’s moral equivalency, his obtuseness, is shocking.
As regards terrorism in France, which by the Pope’s lights in some generic fashion reflects the world ablaze, the French are no pikers, well yes they are depending on the intended meaning. During the ten month Reign of Terror perpetrated by an egalitarian bunch, a philosophy the Pope seems to have some affinity for while not all of its proclivities, last week’s Islamic terrorism in Paris would be but a regular days work for the guillotine and other implements of death.

However, what the guillotine lacked in overall drama it certainly made up for in volume. During the period of the French Revolution, and especially during the Terror (1793-1794) when the state enacted martial law, use of the guillotine skyrocketed. Led by Maximillian Robespierre, the Committee on Public Safety enacted a series of decrees that established a system of Terror, enforced by the state, in an effort to root out counter-revolutionaries . . .
Under this system, at least 40,000 people were killed . . .
Speaking of “charades”
Pope Francis, have you followed any of your “climate change” buddy, Barack’s antics and statements? Or, will his widely open border mean more cash for the Church to aid and abet this invasion?
From Julie McLeod writing at the Canada Free Press in response to the Pope’s comments:
To Pope Francis Christmas only a “charade”
“A pope who lends his presence to the big lie that global warming and not Islamic terrorism is the world’s biggest threat; a pope whose church was paid $79 million by the Obama administration to force migrant invasion on unsuspecting American citizens.”
Pope Francis, we know that the world is sinful but we are tired of your obtuse statements, moral equivalencies and insults to freedom loving people.
