More on the quality of “leadership” in Obama’s defense department

Because the damage this president has done and continues to do to America’s defense and security capability, we were compelled to add to our commentary (“Obama governs out of his Ash”) related to the current Secretary of Defense, Ashton Carter.

In that piece we made reference to the continuing humiliation imposed upon our nation’s military organizations by this Obama administration. In our opinion the devastation Obama is doing cannot be emphasized forcefully enough. If there is anyone who can offer an explanation for the numerous and various ways in which Obama has demonstrated utter contempt for our men and women of the military we’d like to hear it.

We may not have been as clear in citing the incident merited in describing what must be unprecedented in our nation’s military history…the embarrassing “surrender and retreat” that our Marines were forced to accept at the hands of their Commander-in-Chief!

Some conservative blogs and media outlets have been quite outspoken on this disgrace but we’ve seen very little coming close to the outrage it deserves from any mainstream news source.

The US Marine Corps, among America’s most respected (by allies and enemies alike) and feared (by our nation’s enemies) military force on the planet, forced by the Obama State Department to substantively and symbolically submit to a most humiliating experience, should be sufficient grounds to drive this president from office, in our humble opinion.

The State Dept. ordered the “evacuation” of the US Embassy in Yemen. The Marine guard, charged with protection of America’s foreign service personnel was ordered to leave that country in fear of the threat of Houthi rebels (can you imagine? American Marines “fearing” Houthi rebels?). But before they were “allowed” to leave, our Marines were required to surrender their weapons to Yemeni officials (Are you kidding me??????!!!!!).

US Marines, though making the weapons inoperable, handing them over so they could be flown out of the country on a civilian charter aircraft! This was a public humiliation of a military force “surrendering and disarming itself” for the entire world to see!

Barack Obama has, on a previous occasion, spoken of his” disapproval” of the “humiliation” America subjected the Japanese to in formally surrendering aboard the USS Missouri to end WWII. (feel free to express your analysis of our president’s concerns for an implacable enemy vs. what he chose to subject our armed forces to).

marines-umbrellas– While the Yemen debacle may be the worst example of Obama’s contempt for our Armed Forces personnel so far, it is by no means the first In fact, he seems to harbor his greatest contempt for the US Marines. For me, there is the indelible image of a US Marine, in full dress uniform, holding an umbrella so that our president is not discomforted by some raindrops.

Really! This is the stuff of a Hollywood movie about a comic banana-republic dictator exhibiting his “power” over his Gilbert&Sullivan “military”!

And, who can forget this Harvard Law School grad, this smartest and most articulate president ever, not knowing how to pronounce the word “corps”, as in “corpsman”, or Marine “Corps”?  He was so well versed as a commander-in-chief he had never uttered the words?!

But the worst example perhaps of this president’s utter disdain and contempt for our military has been exposed just in the last few days.

It is best exemplified by statements from the lips of former appointees he has made to the nation’s most important posts: the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and a Secretary of Defense.

In the aftermath of the Ft. Hood massacre by an admitted Islamist Jihadi, Army Chief of Staff George Casey, no doubt reflecting the strongly held sentiments of our Commander-in-Chief, said, “Our diversity, not only in our Army, but in our country, is a strength. And as horrific as this tragedy was, if our diversity becomes a casualty, I think that’s worse,” Casey added on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

(And, now, of course, in the aftermath of the San Barnardino massacre, AG Loretta Lynch says the same thing about her “greatest fear“, almost as though she’s been handed the same script Casey got)

But now, perhaps we are seeing that these earlier manifestations of Obama’s disdain, and possibly downright hatred of the military, are small potatoes. This week we are learning some of the truth about the most tragic example of Obama’s dereliction of duty and the lies the administration issues routinely to hide it.

We are now learning, through some of the emails related to Hillary Clinton’s emails regarding her “Yoga lessons”…those she was sure we wouldn’t be interested in, that, during the Benghazi attack, the Defense Dept. had assets in place and ready to deploy which would have possibly saved some or all the lives of those lost in Benghazi.

But here’s the ‘money shot’: “You don’t deploy forces into harm’s way without knowing what’s going on,” Panetta said. “(We) felt we could not put forces at risk in that situation.”

WHAT!!???!!! . . .  So here’s Leon Panetta, Commander, European Theater of Operations, 6 June !944: “Call off the invasion. It would put our troops in ‘harm’s way'”!

Panetta on Benghazi attack: ‘Could not put forces at risk’ By Chris Lawrence

The U.S. military did not get involved during the attack on the U.S. mission in Benghazi, Libya, last month because officials did not have enough information about what was going on before the attack was over, Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta said Thursday.

At a Pentagon news briefing, Panetta said there was no “real-time information” to be able to act on, even though the U.S. military was prepared to do so.

Now we learn (story from Washington Free Beacon)

Newly released emails show that a senior Defense Department official offered the State Department “forces that could move to Benghazi” immediately during the deadly 2012 attack there on the American consulate. Jeremy Bash, the former Pentagon chief of staff, offered to provide forces at 7:19 p.m. on the evening of the attack, “only hours after they had begun,” according to Judicial Watch, which disclosed the email on Tuesday. “We have identified the forces that could move to Benghazi. They are spinning up as we speak,” Bash wrote. Portions of the email remain redacted by the Obama administration…The newly disclosed email contradicts testimony to Congress by Obama administration officials who cited the inability to immediately provide forces in response to the attack.

Armchair generals in the comfort of their offices far away from danger were more worried about political embarrassment than about State Department personnel “boots on the ground.”
