Perhaps what we’re talking about here are “Affordable Mansions”, run by HUD
Of course his offer has all the credibility of “let them eat cake”

Surfing the cable news channels Thursday morning (between 7:30 and 8 AM) I landed on MSNBC at precisely a time that Mike Huckabee was being interviewed by that network’s all-star “Morning Joe” panel.
Asked why Americans (maybe they said “Republicans”) seem to be so scared or opposed to bringing Syrian refugees into this country, Huckabee noted that it is interesting that those who favor a Syrian refugee migration are “folks living in places like Martha’s Vineyard, Chappaqua, Beverly Hills, etc ” who are not likely to have to welcome any to their neighborhoods.
At that, Steve Rattner, a regular on Morning Joe and former Treasury official AND AKA ‘OBAMA’S CAR CZAR, told Huckabee that he, Rattner, “has a place on Martha’s Vineyard” and he would welcome Syrian refugees to his area. He cautioned that they might wish to wait until “April or so” because the weather is not too inviting at the Vineyard in winter.
How great a guy is that!!
America, let’s help Steve Rattner by sending your emails, tweets, and Christmas cards to the White House urging the administration to expedite the usual vetting and get the refugees to Martha’s Vineyard in time for Christmas. The weather outside might be dreadful but the welcoming Rattners and Vineyard folks would be anxious to welcome them. Besides, there are a lot of empty mansions on the Vineyard during the winter. They could accommodate a lot of folks.
Unclear from the comments by Rattner (besides whether he made the offer while in handcuffs) is whether he means only the Syrians that can afford individual mansions or will he have multiple families move into the various multi-room mansion? Perhaps Rattner is talking low-cost housing units ala Katrina — you know — the FEMA units on wheels. We will even allow him the privilege of NIMBY as long as he tells us how many for his front yard and his side yards and that of his neighbors.
To accommodate the plumbing and electrical we suggest the swimming pools for sewage settlement ponds and the immediate stationing of wind mills off the Vineyard. We know how welcoming his “Green” neighbors will be toward that. And, I am sure he will lead the way for the necessary rezoning classifications for his homestead on “Martha’s” to accommodate high density dwelling and multi-family units.
Wait . . . what’s this . . . the latest from MSNBC . . . it shows a neighborhood lynch mob coming down the lane to Steve’s house?
