Rubio no conservative gem by these lights

Rubio – merely flawed or “paste”?

Rubio seen as the candidate of boyish good looks, eager to please, desires to be at center of things, prone to get along rather than make a difference. A record of being concerned with doing the biding of those who are essentially bullies. Cruz a candidate devoted to Constitutional republic and therefore despised by the business as usual types who find the other malleable.

A record of being concerned with doing the biding of those who are essentially bullies. Cruz a candidate devoted to a Constitutional republic and therefore despised by the business as usual types who find Trump and Rubio malleable.

The last few days Julia Hahn writing at Breitbart has produced a series of articles exploring Marco Rubio’s senatorial performance and related aspects.  The links to the latest are below. We list the headings of items from Hahn’s article  Marco Rubio’s 7 Top Achievements in U.S. Senate .  They are explained in context in her piece.

If a person, say one who supports Ted Cruz, were to be confronted by a Marco Rubio supporter, the “Rubioist”, while denouncing Cruz as the most hated man in all of western civilization, might be at a loss to cite the “many ” accomplishments of the Florida Senator in the short time he has served in that body. As this article notes, however, Senator Rubio has quite a few accomplishments he could cite (although he seldom does, except maybe in Spanish when he’s interviewed on a Spanish language station).

Some of these were well-publicized at the time, others are largely unknown to Republican voters. The accomplishments are significant, but not the kind a person who campaigned as a Tea Party conservative would want to advertise at this time . . . a little awkward, you understand.

We’ll stipulate that Marco has in recent months, coinciding perhaps with the Presidential campaign season, made some pretty good speeches acknowledging some of his “mistakes” and assuring audiences that he won’t make any more like that. For some pretty prominent conservative pundits that’s good enough to convince them that Marco, this time is the “real deal” Reagan conservative…right, Rush?

One wonders about those “electability”  merchants of what amounts to business as usual, who try to make a case for Rubio. How is it that Rubio is electable from the supporters of Trump on the key matter of immigration?  How is it that Rubio is electable from a conservative perspective on the other matters identified herein? Are not the no party Trump supporters (immigration being key) and conservatives not presumed to be necessary for Republican victory?
