This is rich! the establishment is concerned that Trump will carry out his ‘rhetoric’; but voters (in general) know that Paul Ryan has no intention of carrying out his ‘rhetoric’.
Who the heck thinks of Ryan as the alternative to Trump?!

Paul Ryan never intended to fight Donald Trump for control of the Republican Party. Months before the New York celebrity businessman emerged as the front-runner for the GOP nomination, the House speaker anticipated the chance the presidential contest that might leave the party fractured and aimless.
According to aides, Ryan decided to take preemptive action. House Republicans would try to chart their own course, independent of their eventual presidential nominee — on policy, defining what the party stands for, and how they communicate with voters.
But as Trump inches closer to the nomination, he and Ryan are increasingly competing for dominance over the party. Neither is backing down.
WHAT??!! By the lights of this article authentic conservatives are now irrelevant to the Republican Party for the control? The philosophy embodied by Ted Cruz, who is after all at least the number-two guy in the Republican presidential nomination process, and gaining, is unmentioned. Is he not the rival to Trump, it has been in all the papers.
The Washington Examiner article displays some really establishment oriented presumptions, and is incredibly blindered. We think Paul Ryan would be much more comfortable with Trump than a party leader (Cruz) who would actually hold Ryan to conservative principles and promises made.
If Paul Ryan, the so called rival to Trump for “control” of the GOP , was in the race rather than hoping to be drafted , he would not have done any better than Jeb Bush even with all the money behind Jeb. Nether Trump nor Ryan, we hope, are in substantial contention for “control” of the Republican party. If they are it will be for control of a much reduced party, one way or the other.
