The WICCA WHCA dinner is the annual gussy up event where those really in charge get entertained by those who think they are. The requirement is that politicians make fun of themselves and each other to amuse the commentariat. One of the features at the event last night was a little ditty prepared by Barack Obama and former chief Republican political jester, John Boehner.

Forgive my curmudgeonliness but at this stage of the game I find these trivializing rather than disarming. Sure, to some extent self-deprecating, but what are the implications when the next day Obama will be out there telling a wider audience how horrible Republicans are, spewing thinly veiled hatred and rabble rousing? Maybe the implication is supposed to be politics is all a game by people who mean well, comme ci comme ça, don’t take any of it serious, policy or political rhetoric really do not mean anything. Communism / capitalism whatever works.
For Boehner, in the face of “transform America,” he was effectively bend over and then roll over and hope for a belly rub and a glass of wine. Oboehner Boebama whatever. That’s out president, that’s our establishment. Depicting Boehner in bend-over fashion near Obama, now THAT would be insightful at least.
