The “Kathleen Parker of the Catholic Church”

Those poor folks in Sodom and Gomorrah are certainly owed an apology from somebody. Surely they found all that “fire and brimstone” somewhat “offensive”.

The latest from His Holiness, Via Reuters:

Pope says Church should ask forgiveness from gays for past treatment

images-1“He added: “I think that the Church not only should apologize … to a gay person whom it offended but it must also apologize to the poor as well, to the women who have been exploited, to children who have been exploited by (being forced to) work. It must apologize for having blessed so many weapons.”

I think I understand George Will now. Not that I agree with him, condone his long running betrayal of conservatism, or his sanctimonious, unctuous, snobbish “intellectual” rationale.

But I do identify with the “I didn’t leave . . . (insert organization) . . .  it left me”.

A Catholic church led by a swelled-headed Marxist like Pope Francis is leaving me. Il Papa has enthusiastically accepted and aggressively seeks his status as a leftist media “rock star”. He is becoming the Catholic Church’s Kathleen Parker, the columnist who discovered an easy path to perceived admiration and remuneration way beyond her competence from progressives for her stubborn clinging to a label of “conservative” while she embraces every progressive position she can find.

Similarly Pope Francis revels in the ink he gets every time he states a position far away from traditional church teaching and tradition.

The global leftwing media loved it when His Holiness spoke out against capitalism as a creator of “profits” he labeled as the “dung of the devil”. It was ecstatic when he hopped on the “climate change’ bandwagon. Inviting input only from the climate change hoaxers. Francis, whose “scientific” credentials consist of a high school course or two, basked in the “glory” of his designation as a “man of science”.

His energetic efforts to pander to every leftist “victim” is not just embarrassing for the Church. It is so malevolent toward Francis’s targets.

According to this “humble” man, there is a long laundry list of things for which America and the relatively “free” world should apologize:

– for North America’s “exploitation” of Latin American countries (who have suffered under dictatorships of various stripes for decades, including those who have shared Il Papa’s own socialist/marxist ideology.)

– for causing alleged changes in the world’s climate by using the God-provided world’s resources for the comfort, advancement, and betterment of mankind.

– for Americans spending too much on the health and well-being of their pets (!?) and enjoying the often life-saving benefits of air conditioning while those producing it make profit from it (Oh! the humanity!)

– for practicing the unforgivable economic and political system in which a country’s trade and industry are controlled by private owners for profit, rather than by the state…known to Francis as “unfettered capitalism”.

And now, as Catholics, The Vicar calls on us to go out on the highways and byways, find a LGBTQ person and beg them for forgiveness…go to the “poor” and tell them you are sorry for how your Church has been unkind to them and presumably “redistribute” what you have so you may share their misery… you might also want to apologize to the young lad who delivers your newspaper for exploiting his child labor…and, finally, apologize to those unfortunate Japanese imperialists and German Nazis for “blessing” all those darn weapons which so damaged their frail psyches.

And what next, Il Papa? Shall we apologize to the abortionists and their supporters for not recognizing their unique point of view?

Where is that Church and that religion I grew up with…where did it go?

  1. Gus says:

    Dear Il Papa,
Is “climate change denial” a mortal sin? Must all of your papal predecessors “apologize” for their “offenses and exploitations”?
