As regards Cleveland (24 arrests during the duration for “failure to disperse” vs Philadelphia’s already double that so far), the possibilities include that the Democrat Party powers that be did not want actual riots in Cleveland and certainly not Philadelphia. The powers that be know that the “optics,” the absence of law and order from their people, would only help Republicans and Trump. That was the result of the 68 Chicago riots at Democrat convention where “law and order” and “tired of the hippies” helped energize or add to support for Nixon.
To be sure they wanted a large presence in Cleveland, plenty of street scenes, a level of “outrage” but well marshaled with compelling heart-felt demonstrations which their usual friends in the media would properly accentuate. Some numbers yes, some theatrical tension yes, maybe test a few provocation techniques, but do what you are told, keep a lid on it.
And then came the Wikileaks of DNC e-mails. Oh sh*t, didn’t want that to happen.
The protestors the DNC can only semi-rely on their Red Army, which definitely tend to be Bernie people. But the leaks, to say the least, tended to rub raw the sort of developing Trotskyite (Bern people) vs Stalinist (Hillary) split.* And of course “control became more difficult.” We look for the clamps on the Trotskyites Bernie people to come down harder from their keepers, the real powers that be, but it may not work as they are definitely POed. Bernie can’t even keep a lid on it so far. The usual helpful media contacts will obligingly help Hillary but the whole matter accentuates the distrust lying Hillary component of this race.

The Clinton camp is blaming Vladimir Putin’s Russia for hacking emails at the Democratic National Committee. This reminds the editorial board that at the State Department, “ Mrs. Clinton’s self-serving email set-up made it easier for him to meddle,” and the question is what other Clinton secrets may soon be released. “Mrs. Clinton went to great lengths to hide her emails, perhaps because they contain details about the inner workings of the Clinton Foundation and political machine. Could the Clinton camp be blaming Russia for the DNC leak in pre-emptive anticipation that her emails will also eventually be leaked? This would certainly make for a big October surprise.” …Meanwhile the Journal’s Allysia Finley wonders if Donald Trump can capitalize on the Democratic discord resulting from the email disclosures.
Well duh, the Ruskies probably do have e-mails with all manner of connection to her including, thanks to her, private server e-mails of US and her crime family secrets. But as others have said, this does not strike us as a Russian MO. They would tend to keep things in their back pocket and blackmail Hillary with it. Besides, who is more friendly to the Russians than Hillary and company — no not Trump.
