Democrats in their 2016 platform have called for a $15 hour minimum wage — yet we ran across this the other day — a solicitation by them for paid help to do whatever.

So it is salary (no benefits*) “part-time” but it says “reporting daily” and “door-to-door four hours per night” as one function. Thirty-days a month, minimum four hours, is 120 hours for $1700. That amounts to a rate of $14.17 an hour. Where is the other 83 cents an hour?
Of course the employee’s net will be reduced by their drive time and car expense. And while the salary is capped we kind of bet that they will be importuned to stay longer, come in early, fill in for someone. And what’s with the “up until the election” notice of termination. How dare they suggest laying anyone off, as you are entitled to a full-time job with benefits at a living wage for ever. Workers unite. Unionize now.
Report daily to “Canvass Lead” — that seems awfully hierarchical (how do we know there was not a glass-ceiling?) and how is one to know that that person will not violate one’s comfort zone — what if they are white?
Strong verbal/ interpersonal skills — WHAT no translators provided, what of the hearing and speech challenged??
Basic computer skills?? How discriminatory is that, no training provided??
And what’s this with “driver’s license” a clear code-word for discrimination perhaps intended to slip in a picture ID requirement!!! And “reliable transportation required”?! — no points for walking to work, no extra points for environmentally friendly vehicles?!!
The most outrageous requirement is “references”!! There is so much lurking in that clearly subjective (and therefore discriminatory) code word, where do we start? And as to the claim of nondiscrimination why did they not list “felony status” ?
Clearly this is just another exploitative, crappy, exploitative, crappy, (did I say exploitative and crappy?), likely hostile work environment job.
