One rumor floating out there is that FBI underlings and /or retirees gave Comey an ultimatum. They understand that Hillary is as guilty as hell and is being let off because Comey is a hack and a traitor to justice and the perp of extreme damage to the FBI’s reputation. So they said find a way to push forward, and by the way here is a way, or we will go public and/or their will be mass resignations for cause that we reveal. Your done Comey.
It is a grand thought but Comey is politically adept in a weaselly survivalist sort of way and can play versions of the same game all over again and maybe still eek out his survival with a Hillary win. He is said to be a Republican after all. Her winning, like so many in the swamp, is his only hope.
