Exceptional; concise, accurate, grim
Consider this quote from an article in Real Clear Politics, (see below)
“This establishes the one-party state without real opposition that the Dems have long craved. The political takeover scheme is to present-day America what the Enabling Act was to 1930s Germany — this time with the timorous Republican Party playing the pliant role of von Hindenburg. “
This piece is, in our opinion, the single best response to the “NeverTrumpers” like Bill Kristol, Ben Sasse, Dr. Krauthammer, Jeff “Flake”, Glenn Beck, George Will, et al, that we have yet read.
Anyone who has even the slightest doubt about the foreboding accuracy of this column and supports the “NT” position, we would urge you to make a copy of it. Stick it up on your refrigerator, or somewhere else, where in the very near future you can look at it every day as events of a Hillary administration unfold.
And tell your children and grandchildren that you helped make it happen! DLH
Why ‘Never Trump’ Republicans Will Doom Our Nation
By John Gaski
Republican Party elders and intelligentsia — many self-styled concerning the latter credential — have taken turns declaring electoral fealty to Hillary Clinton while offering gratuitous guidance that the masses should do the same for the coming presidential vote. The reason for the public posturing, of course, is to prevent the seemingly unworthy Donald Trump from becoming president.
Thanks for the free advice, worth all of what we are paying for it, but no thanks. As a member of the presumptive advisers’ target audience, I am entitled to respond and explain why I reject their exhortation.
From my perspective as a conservative, it is more than the standard calculation of “I’ll agree with Trump half the time but Hillary almost never, so a Trump vote dominates a Hillary vote”—although such reasoning rightfully should give pause to the Hillary Republicans. It is much more than that, and the motives as a citizen transcend the ideological basis.
There appear to be three particular policy consequences of a Hillary Clinton presidency that individually would be sufficient to extinguish the United States of America. (There’s your headline: Prof claims Hillary’s election would doom U.S.!) Extreme? Implausible? Alarmist? Consider these prospective outcomes, all foreseeable with high confidence if not sanguinity, starting with the least in order of importance:
1. National bankruptcy. Hillary Clinton’s announced spending plans, when enacted, would double the national debt to $40 trillion, just as Barack Obama doubled the debt and any modern Democrat would reflexively do the same. And do not count on tax increases to cover the new spending. When was the last time Democrat, or Republican, tax hikes balanced the budget instead of merely incenting even more government spending? (The Republican Congress’ fiscal success in the ‘90s was due to spending control.) Do not take seriously the projection by liberal Democrat economists that Trump’s plan would cause higher deficits than Hillary’s.
Add a couple hundred trillion or so of unfunded Social Security and Medicare liabilities, which the Dems have always refused to address, and the U.S. fisc is on the fast track to true insolvency. Of course, when a nation goes bankrupt, it is not like corporate or individual bankruptcy. Instead, just think of all your dollars becoming worthless as a desperate federal government inflates the currency with cheap paper. Think Greece or Weimar Republic.
Then, a bankrupt country cannot afford to defend itself. Russia, China, Iran, North Korea, and Islamic State are salivating.
2. Supreme Court appointments. If elected, Hillary Clinton will surely have enough appointment opportunities to pack the court sufficiently to establish liberal dominance for a generation or more. There goes the U.S. Constitution! Perhaps you have noticed that liberal Democrats on the Supreme Court rule not as jurists but as lib Dem activists, demonstrating pure contempt for the Constitution. (Only rarely do they admit it, as with Thurgood Marshall’s candid confession that liberal Supremes do indeed rule any way they want and only then find phony basis to justify.) An extreme leftist Supreme Court would therefore be expected, based on historical behavior, to allow a President Clinton II carte blanche or virtual dictatorial power even beyond Barack Obama’s unilateral rule via executive order. And what has been the character of every left-wing dictatorship in world history?
3. Amnesty for the illegal immigrants — for obvious political reasons. Legalization of between 11 and 30 million illegal aliens in the U.S., either through a new Democrat congress or executive order, will produce enough excess Democrat votes to render it impossible for a Republican ever to win at the national level again. (Non-Americans are known to favor Democrats. Why?) This establishes the one-party state without real opposition that the Dems have long craved. The political takeover scheme is to present-day America what the Enabling Act was to 1930s Germany — this time with the timorous Republican Party playing the pliant role of von Hindenburg. (Trump said bad things so let’s elect someone who has done a hundred times worse.) Again, will our coming leftist dictatorship be any different than any such regime the world has seen?
The Democrats’ penchant for demonizing and destroying any who dare to disagree with them is only a foretaste of our future civil (il)liberties. The Dems reveal their totalitarian proclivities in many subtle ways, and some that are not so subtle — such as massive election fraud, shouting down conservative campus speakers, and criminalizing opposition à la the IRS. The next atrocity on the horizon is a war on religion. Upon reification of the Democrat tyranny, any faith, church, or clergyman that preaches morally against the sacraments of liberal social orthodoxy such as homosexual marriage, legal marijuana, unrestricted abortion, or unisex restrooms will be subject to prosecution for a hate crime. Watch for it. You won’t have to wait long.
This is not your father’s Democratic Party. By today’s standards, JFK would be an ultra-conservative Republican. Unbridled enactment of contemporary Democrat tendencies produces a state of nature that truly is not the United States of America, hence my original conclusion. Pleasant dreams, comrades.
Republican leaders who piously advocate “never Trump” apparently have not thought through the potential effects of a Hillary Clinton presidency at this pivotal time. A Trump election could prove disastrous but it is difficult to forecast that a Hillary win would not be beyond catastrophic. Those smug, self-satisfied Republican Brahmins may not have the wisdom or IQ points they imagine themselves to possess.
Just our bad luck as well that Donald Trump seems incapable of articulating this case. Heaven help our country
