There was for awhile, at one level, the naivete level, the plausibility that Obama Won’t Throw FBI Director James Comey Under the Train It is an article by Sean Davis in today’s The Federalist. It contains the subtitle explanation:
Criticism of Comey only makes the appointment of a special prosecutor more likely, It is an article that’s the last thing Obama wants.
The analysis depends on some sort of parallel with the Nixon years or any administration hated by the press. That is a key element to predicting what can happen.
As we see it…..
1) Characteristically of Obama, when there is dirty work to be done, someone else is ordered to do it with his ‘black presidentness’ above the fray, untouched and untouchable. Loretta Lynch will do the deed. There’s always room for one more under the Obama bus. She will do it because Comey has “disgraced the Office, has lost the confidence of the people in his own bureau, has become inexplicably erratic in his behavior, and has defied Department policy and endangered our democratic process”. The media, by a huge majority, will certainly see the wisdom of Ms. Lynch’s action in saving the republic from “Captain Queeg-like” FBI Director.
2) There will be no “special prosecutor”! The media won’t demand it. Obama will do the “honorable thing” and stand by his Attorney General. And does anyone think the ‘courageous’ GOP establishment will descend to such low levels as to bring back the universally discredited special prosecutor option? And what about all those former high level bi-partisan law enforcement people who have signed on in defense of Hillary and Obama? Finally, it is the AG who appoints a special prosecutor. Doesn’t Obama respect both Ms. Lynch’s profoundly good judgment and the office she holds. Barack is certainly not one to “second guess”…is he? Certainly Obama will regret the “resignation” of a man he has praised for his great integrity but he will wish him well and sadly conclude that it is all in the best interest of this great nation for which Barack and Michele have such high regard for.
Mr Davis has already pretty much been proved wrong as to Obama/Clinton fears of the FBI. They consider themselves still the true Untouchables. The fix is in, so they assume.
