Has it all been a stupendous scam…this notion that America is the land of freedom, a place where government is of the people, by the people, for the people?
How does a loyal American citizen explain what we have seen over the last many months of this presidential campaign?
It seems to be pretty well-known that our last two Republican presidents, as well as members of their immediate families are actively opposing their own party’s candidate and actually voting for Democratic party candidate, Hillary Clinton.
Hillary Clinton, one half of arguably the most corrupt pair of national politicians in American history, except, perhaps, for the current Democratic president!
The Bushes, allowing themselves to be publicly portrayed as supporting the candidate of the political machine which has spent the better of the last two decades, vilifying them and blaming them for everything bad which has happened in this nation and in the entire world!
Is it surprising, really? At least to me it is, mildly. I admit to being dismayed when then President Bush joyfully invited Ted Kennedy to their Texas ranch to celebrate the John Kennedy legacy and entertain the despicable Teddy with a private showing of the film about his brother.
More dismaying was to see Teddy leave the Bush ranch and go back to Washington to immediately resume his “Bush lied, people died” slander of George W’s Afghanistan/Iraq policy. And, of course, not a word from the Bushes in their own defense nor the defense of policies which 60,000 Americans defended with their lives and millions more supported in the belief their president was too honorable to lie to them about !
But then, that’s the Bushes…such honorable people, so determined to not demean the office of the president by stooping to actually defend their actions.
Perhaps worse yet is having to watch during the past 8 years, the most dishonest president (Obama) I believe America has ever seen, spend most of his time, when he’s not blaming and ‘apologizing’ to the world for all the evils he believes this country has been responsible for, to blame George W. Bush personally for all the consequences of his own irresponsibly destructive policies and actions.
Hillary Clinton has lived off the vitriolic attacks by Obama, her party, and she and her husband on the Bush administration for the past 16 years.
All the while, the Bush family has been silent, enduring the most vile assaults on their legacies and reputations.
And during that time, the family’s erstwhile and dismal hopeful to continue the dynasty, Jeb Bush, as chairman of the National Constitution Center, in 2013, honored Hillary for her “lifelong career in public service”.
Ah, but the Bushes are justified in their refusal to support the presidential candidate of their party, Donald Trump, because during the primary campaign, Mr. Trump was very disrespectful toward Jeb. He said nasty things about Jeb. So bad were his comments that Jeb was obliged to not honor his pledge to support the nominee!
Well, it seems passing strange to me that the ‘noble’ Bushes can withstand years of vicious lies and attacks on their legacies by the likes of Hillary and Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, and the entire Democratic party hierarchy, but their feelings are so badly hurt by Donald Trump’s campaign rhetoric about Jeb’s weak and “low energy” quest for the nomination that they feel righteous and justified in publicly supporting and voting for his corrupt opponent!
It makes one wonder if maybe the entire “Bush years”, their campaigns, their administrations, their policies, even their public statements, etc….all of it was maybe all just one colossal con…a national scam that millions of patriotic Americans fell for, hook, line, and sinker! DLH
