John Fund like much of the GOPe is still unable to come to grips with a ‘Trumpency’

The “just put any old DC insider bureaucrat in their” critique

Knowing where Fund is coming from, his ability to appreciate much in the Trump administration is suspect.  ReadingEagle.com  reminds us:

“When Donald Trump announced he was entering the race for president last spring the notion that he would take over the White House seemed preposterous.  So preposterous  that a columnist for the conservative publication National Review actually floated the idea that the real estate developer turned reality TV star might be working as a double-agent for the Democratic Party.

“He reinforces all the Left’s negative stereotypes of conservatives as ignorant blowhards,” John Fund wrote a few days after the announcement. “Indeed, Donald Trump seems eager to alienate sane voters by embracing conspiracy theories wherever he can find them.”  –John Fund

As we see it, what the  GOPe considers gumming up the works :

a) He actually wants to do stupid things…liking bringing people into his administration who are neither liberal operatives nor “neverTrumpers”.

b) He does not intend to fill jobs in the bureaucracy which he considers “unnecessary!

And this is upsetting to Fund:

“Lots of mayhem could take place before then.” Team Trump has offered a series of excuses for the logjam. Some say that the FBI has been slow in finishing security clearances, but an FBI source has strongly disputed that to me. A top Trump aide told me that some Cabinet secretaries have been alerted that they will be able to name their own deputies only after the White House is assured that they are not liberals and that they did not take a Never Trump stance in the 2016 election.

“Jonathan Swan of the new media company Axios reported last week (based on an unnamed source) that when Interior Secretary Ryan Zinke complained directly to Trump that he had no deputies beneath him, Trump replied that he would get his people “as long as they’re our people.”

Wow! How dumb is that?!

John Fund is considered an erudite observer of the Washington political scene. Well, maybe so. But Mr. Fund is also a great admirer of the Washington Establishment and no great big fan of President Trump.

Obviously I’d never think of putting words in the mouth of such a great “conservative” pundit, but I’m guessing Fund would much prefer a Trump administration to be peopled with Obama holders, “NeverTrumpers”, and “moderate Republicans” than a bunch of ignorant solid conservatives. I’ll bet Trump’s appointment of moderate Jon Huntsman as ambassador to Russia sent a thrill up his pants leg.         DLH
