The “Comey Extravaganza” is the very best example of the reasons I refuse to watch or listen to Congressional Committee hearings…unless one’s life is so “boring” (as Vlad Putin would say). This is not to say they cannot provide revelations or admissions, but time is too short to devote three hours to such evasiveness. Any money quotes will be revealed in the transcripts.
For one thing. they are never conclusive. If the witness testifying is a Democrat favorite, the Republican committee members will question from a hostile perspective (well, at least some of them will), the Democrats will “probe” to get the testimony most favorable to their position, and vice versa.
Then the media will cherry pick those portions of the “testimony” which fortifies their bias. Endless “analyses” by “legal experts” will then invariably parse the “testimony” to further strengthen their biases (Fox News vs. all the rest).
What seems obvious to observers like myself can be “parsed ” and “interpreted” to any conclusion one seeks. If there are statutes that clearly state that it is a felony to handle in a careless manner top secret government information, a ‘regular’ person’ would conclude that a government official at the highest level, pledged to fully protect ‘classified’ and ‘secret’ information who deliberately sets up systems to avoid such statutes and carelessly handles such information, has indeed committed a felony.
Well, silly us. We’ve had an FBI Director and a Justice Department who refuses to accept such a “simpleton’s” interpretation. The perpetrator did not “intend” to commit a felony. Likely one of the most novel defenses in our Republic’s history, yet it is fully supported by an incredibly biased media.
Not surprising is that I am in the “Trump camp” as far as my personal biases. Of course I contend that those “biases” are the product of so much liberal distortions that common sense justifies and reinforces my views, er, “biases”.
Possibly the best observation regarding the entire Comey Comic Opera was made by Neil Cavuto:
Comey testified that he “memorialized” his conversation with President Trump because he expected that the president would “lie” about the content or direction of the exchange between the two. As Cavuto noted, had Comey not been fired, harboring the clear distrust of Mr. Trump he revealed, could he possibly conduct a fair and objective investigation?
Furthermore, Comey also testified that AG Loretta Lynch had directed him to refrain from calling the Hillary Clinton investigation a “criminal investigation” but, instead a “matter”.
For a “standup guy”, with “integrity” oozing from his veins, how come we never heard this and it was never leaked to the NY Times?
And, yet, it appears that the liberal media has found more than enough in Comey’s testimony to support charges of “obstruction” and, even impeachment?
And so it goes. Good for one to two news cycles, then we move onto the next “revelation ” from unnamed sources.
Congressional Committee hearings are, in my opinion, one of the biggest wastes of taxpayer time and media coverage, and viewer attention as it is possible to achieve.

A bunch of tom turkeys, strutting and gobbling, “Look at me!” Sneering, making statements, thinly disguised as questions, praying for a 15 second gotcha bit on the evening news. I hate to say it, both sides.
