An excerpt from a Monday column by Clarice Feldman:
Comey and Mueller have a history as a Deep State tag team
CBS News reported that Mueller reportedly gave approval for Comey to testify before Congress and that the testimony was coordinated. Comey testified that he was permitted to review his memos in preparation of his written opening statement for the Committee submitted the day before his live testimony:
COMEY: Yes. I think nearly all of my written recordings of my conversations, I had a chance to review them before filing my statement.
LANKFORD: Do you have a copy of any of the notes personally?
COMEY: I don’t. I turned them over to Bob Mueller’s investigators.
There are a lot of questions that need to be answered about how Rod Rosenstein came to appoint Mueller in those few days after the Comey leak, and whether Comey and Mueller, directly or indirectly, had any communications regarding Trump prior to Mueller’s appointment.
Regardless, we now have the prospect of the Special Counsel investigating and necessarily assigning credibility (or lack thereof) to witnesses, including Comey.
Ms. Feldman concludes with this:
“It’s time to shut this down. Rosenstein should do it, and if he fails to, Attorney General Sessions must.”
With all due respect to, and great admiration for, Ms. Feldman, ‘FAT CHANCE OF THAT!’
If Comey and Mueller are good buddies and oh, so honorable dudes as they have been alleged to be by both sides of the aisle, Mr. Rosenstein can rightfully be added to this ‘team’.
If ever there were “Three Amigos”, it’s this little band of “Deep Staters”.
Let’s not forget..and who can if they’ve paid any attention at all to events of the past 5 months to a year…Rosenstein was a US Attorney during the administrations of both G W Bush and Barack Obama. Most incoming presidents replace US Attorneys appointed by previous administrations but Obama did not in the case of Rosenstein. (Anybody really believe Obama did not because ‘Rod’ is such a seeker of justice and the American way and scrupulously “non-political”? Oh come now. Loretta Lynch was similarly lauded.
(And yes, Rosenstein is a “Republican”. But so are Ben Sasse and Susan Collins and Justin Amash, all “Republican” officeholders. Yet they are rabid “anti-Trumpers”. )
So, what did Mr. Rosenstein do as soon as he was confirmed to succeed the treacherous Sally Yates as Acting Attorney General?
Well, he did write an assessment of James Comey’s performance as FBI Director which at first was billed as the basis for Comey’s firing. Typically though, after getting criticism from the usual “fake news” sources (read NY Times), that became a more ambiguous assertion, according to Mr. Rosenstein himself.
And, thus, the next thing he did was appoint an “above reproach”, completely objective and “non-partisan” seeker of justice, incredibly honest, blah, blah “Special Counsel” to really get to the bottom of all this “Russia” thing.
And who was that? Well, proper procedure and action devoid of ANY appearance of partiality, would demand appointment of someone completely removed from any association with any of the potential targets or key witnesses, etc
And sure enough, that’s who good old “former U. S. Attorney under the Obama administration”, Rod Rosenstein, chose… the best friend of the hapless former Director of the FBI, James “he can dunk a basketball” Comey!
