I don’t recall voting for Jim Mattis…and I apparently misunderstand how the chain of command works. I thought it was: Trump: “Jim, me boss…you secretary; I give the orders, you obey them!”; ‘Mad Dog’: “Yessir!”
Guess it doesn’t work that way.
(The media, the Washington Post, is reporting that Mattis ‘isn’t really defying orders…he just needs a study to figure out how to carry out the orders. Yeah, we’ll see.)

– Secretary of Defense Mattis said that he will wait for a “study” to be completed…then he’ll think about implementing President Trump’s policy: ‘I’ll let you know..’
– A “new Study” indicates it would cost a billion dollars to discharge and replace all those transgender troops currently serving…who’da thought??!!
– Another study, by “non-partisan” Rand found “paying for the health care needs” of transgenders serving in the military would be hardly noticeable…about $8 million/year. AND, their effect on readiness “would be negligible”. (I think I see where “Mad Dog’s” study is heading)
– No reference to whether the efforts to recruit transgenders will continue while the Secretary’s study progresses (some news outlets reported a few days ago that it was expected, with the president’s policy announcement, recruitment would be halted. Of course they hadn’t asked the Secretary of Defense about that).

So a billion to muster them out and replace them? Bogus figuring. Most enlistees don’t stay as enlistments are up anyway. It is like saying x number of (non-trangender ) troops leave and it costs a billion to replace them. That is called the normal cost of doing business. The costs eliminated means they should be the first to go. — Navy vet as overheard.
