Hey football fans. Do you know who the players on your favorite NFL team are, as we’ve affectionately dubbed them, “Knee Jerks”?
Certainly the player who experienced the shortest span of admiration for a courageous stand is Alejandro Villenuevo, the Pittsburgh Steelers player who stood for the National Anthem Sunday while his teammates stayed in the locker room.
Alejandro went from nationally admired, decorated Army Ranger to abject apologist for siding with his country over participating in an insult to it in less than 24 hours.
He looks tough, doesn’t he? So who scared him into humiliating himself? The place kicker?

His apology to his teammates and excuse making for them and his choice to protect the malcontents means he has their back as he turns his to the country. Why didn’t he walk out on the field and stand, instead he hovered, semi-cowered in the tunnel and got credit for being a champ. Thanks for walking that back as it was undeserved.
He is a West Point graduate. The honor code there is short and sweet:
“A cadet will not lie, cheat, steal, or tolerate those who do.”
Or tolerate those who do is operative. Even if it were only a few of the Steelers who would have taken a knee, participation in the coverup of their lies about the country, that its anthem is not deserving of respect, that the NFL’s player rule book can be dishonored by players, owners and indeed the NFL administration, by not going out on the field for the anthem, is telling as to whose side he is on.
So we ask, whudayagunnado from now on “Al” . Never go out on those local state and federally tax-supported fields that subsidize your grand salary ever again and stand for the National Anthem, all in order to avoid controversy??? . . . continue to hide your light in the tunnel??? It will come up later in the week Mr. Villenuevo. You must think the country is that bad to tolerate and help coverup for displays of ingratitude and distortion and in the process violate your player agreement, cheat on it because others will.
You can show you will not tolerate the lies, the phoniness, the distortion, or you can stay in the tunnel. Its not like as many will be watching, but we will hear about it.
