xhaustive and exhausting expose of Uranium One scandal
First of all, I want to emphasize that I’ve come to admire Chuck Grassley a great deal over the last couple of years. As Roger observes, the Senator is a champion of the Constitution and has done great work in recent years to defend it against the worst elements of both political parties who seek to invalidate this great nation’s founding document.
But, alas, I fear that Chuck Grassley has too little help given that he is surrounded by the swamp dwellers.
We’ve seen too many times in the years since voters steadily gave more power to the Republican party in the hopes that the relentless downward trajectory of this nation into a totalitarian abyss could be reversed.
We’ve had Trey Gowdy, given the lawful power and authority to expose and deal with the perpetrators of the murderous Benghazi incident and the coverup of the willful mishandling of a dark chapter in the nation’s foreign relations history. The net effect of Rep. Gowdy’s not-so admirable effort was…nothing!
Then there was the “Great White Hope”, former Rep. Jason Chaffetz. He vowed to really, really get to the bottom of the Hillary email scandal. His work on that led to an eager departure from Congress to a gig on Fox as a “conservative” contributor.
The Hillary email scandal? What scandal?
Well, Chaffetz did urge the Justice Department to investigate Comey.
So the the Justice Dept. now investigates Trump for mistreating Comey! Huh?!
By the way…whatever came out of the vigorous investigation of “Fast and Furious”? Don’t remember that one?
And let us not forget the IRS and its effective campaign to silence the Tea Party.
That went well. The key figure in that one now enjoys a fat government pension and the guy who was named by the previous administration to cover up the criminal activity performed magnificently…and still heads the agency!
So now, poor old Chuck Grassley and GOP Rep. Devin Nunes are left to try to seek real justice in one of the biggest, most dangerous, most treacherous and, we believe, treasonous. incidences of government corruption involving virtually an entire presidential administration, involving the previous president himself and the Democratic nominee to succeed him!
Chuck…Good luck with that!
