Screw with the design and you get monstrosities

  • Perhaps another dissertation by John Daniel Davidson might be on the topic  . . . the Outmoded(?) concept of “Innocent Until Proven Guilty” to avoid “debacles’!

An interesting take for The Federalist?

To Avoid Debacles Like Roy Moore, Repeal The 17th Amendment

Voters in Alabama might send Roy Moore to the U.S. Senate. Maybe it’s time to consider allowing state legislatures to elect senators again.

We support that repealing the 17th amendment could not be worse than what implementing it helped produce, and would increase real federalism.  The founders original intentions were perceptive in so many ways. The critique that it would nationalize state legislative races is well taken except that – so what — too many of them blame or hide behind Washington without exercising their own powers.
