- Should the Alabama senate race figure into this at all ?
Michael Goodwin’s column appearing at the Fox News site writes:
Jeff Sessions continues to prove he’s Trump’s biggest mistake
Goodwin concludes after comment on Session shortcomings:
Because of the Moore mess and Trump’s unhappiness with Sessions, the White House has floated the idea that Sessions might want to go back to his Senate seat. The move could simultaneously solve two problems, and though it would be tricky, Sessions’ latest flubs prove it is the best possible outcome.
First we believe Moore should be entitled to full exposition of the response he deems adequate. There seems to be a whole lot of contrivance at least attached to the accusations. The pearl clutching from the Democrats and others is insufferable. As Rush suggested a couple of days ago, if true should Moore not be forgiven, because if true, the deeds were done when he was a Democrat?
As regards Goodwin’s commentary, it might be a convenient twofer for Session to exist stage right (he won’t). We feel that Trump can get at least as good an AG as Sessions. It might be asked — has not Sessions, to his credit, maintained a narrow line of not appearing to be the hatchet man toward Clinton for Trump? But politics is not his job. His job is to pursue justice and equal treatment and not to appease the liberal media. If he won’t do his job (we hope justice is being served behind the scenes) Moe Brady, who we preferred in the primary, should be considered first. If Sessions has to go without a place to land, too bad.
Then the WSJ Editorial Board writes what is a pretty typical view of the Washington Uniparty establishment. Of course, they held that preferred outcome from the minute Roy Moore beat Mitch’s puppy, Luther Strange…or is it Strange Luther?
