WSJ, showing its . . .

. . . ‘NEVER TRUMPER’ arse

– In Wednesday’s edition the Wall Street Journal was highly dismissive of Trump’s “Asia sojourn”: “With few ‘deliverables’ White House says was about messaging and groundwork”:

– “Trump returns…from his first Asia trip with a good deal of bonhomie with his fellow leaders but few tangible outcomes.”

– “Commercial deals…mostly signals of intent rather than ironclad agreements…”

– “Trump signaled he wants deals above all else, and was …willing to sign bi-lateral deals with anyone and everyone interested…”; “there is a clear offer on the table, it’s not clear there were any takers…”, said a FORMER SENIOR China analyst for the CIA (“Former”, well who’da thought?)

– “Instead, while Mr. Trump was there, several Asian countries moved forward on a broad trade deal without the US, AFTER THE PRESIDENT WITHDREW THE US FROM THE TPP AT THE START OF HIS ADMINISTRATION.” (Recall, of course, the Wall Street Journal thought Obama’s TPP capitulation was a great thing.)

Although, the Journal report did not say it, the writers clearly thought President Trump should not have headed off to the trip without a ‘reset button” and a willingness to bow deeply and obsequiously (like Obama) to every fellow leader he met.

Wall Street Journal Notes That American Industry Has “Picked Up Steam” Over the Last 12 Months

– “…thanks to steady global growth, a rise in energy and other commodity prices, and increased business confidence.”

– “…spending sentiment and employment have climbed, while stock markets hit record highs.”

– “(The manufacturing) …sector absolutely has improved relative to where we were a year ago”, said a ‘manufacturing economist’ at the Chicago fed. However, he described the growth “as modest”.

– Later in the story, reporting that manufacturers have added 156,000 workers the past 12 months, the Journal did note that there is a different US president than a year ago when there was a “loss of 16,000 manufacturing jobs” during the final year of some other guy’s administration.

Of course, we’d be the last to suggest any bias in favor of all things ‘Obama’ vs. President Trump. We just report…you decide.   DLH
