Lack of hope is a prison

There is a poignant scene in The Godfather II when Tom Hagan has a conversation with Frank Pentangelli. “When a plot against the Emperor failed, the plotters were always given a chance to let their families keep their fortunes.” A good deal, predicated upon the plotter’s suicide.

It appears that Attorney General Sessions is going to gain control the Justice department, and President Trump will not be removed from office. The plot against the emperor has failed.

President Obama and Hillary; certain their Justice Department would have continuity of leadership has left a trail of misdeeds that lead directly to them and theirs. The era of email, text and twitter is catching agents and officials saying things no law-enforcer should.

We no longer require the mortal lives of the plotters be dispatched, only the political lives. There is going to be a batch of prominent officials “retire” this upcoming year.

Some will be FBI, some Justice, many in media. Few will go to jail, most will keep some portion of their fortunes. Their political future is the price of betrayal.

The toll of Hollywood’s harassment scandals will begin to be felt in fundraising for this upcoming election season. Earnings lost, and money spent on defense attorneys cannot be donated to Democrats. The loss of the slush funds from the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau shouldn’t be minimized.

I still have faith in the American people and their ability to decode the media. 2018 is going to be a good year. Why would anyone believe otherwise.

Somewhere, last summer, there was communication between Terry McAuliffe or his representative telling Charlotteville’s police chief (now retired – see above) to allow a riot for political gain. I’m not sure they realized people would die. It may not come to light, but it happened. Whadaya think?

I hope you are right, Gene.

    Merry Christmas!
