To those who are distraught over the “attacks” on lawlessness and corruption at the highest levels of our nation’s hallowed federal law enforcement and national security agencies:
– No one I know of has sought to besmirch the thousands of employees of those agencies…the hardworking, dedicated agents, attorneys, technical and administrative personnel.
– It has not been suggested that these people are corrupt or dishonest or illegally politically biased.
– The point is, however, there is more than ample evidence of serious corruption, possibly treasonous, unconstitutional actions in many areas of these institutions over the past 8 years, perhaps longer. The awesome power of these agencies was used to attempt to overthrow a legally elected federal government.
– This was all being done while all of these thousands of hardworking, dedicated employees were in their jobs…however much committed to the nation’s laws and values they might be.
– Any effort to ‘clean up’ the treachery, lawlessness, and corruption which has infected these agencies necessarily reflects to some extent on them…not that they did anything, but perhaps because they didn’t!
– It is beside the point to suggest that a failure by lower level employees should not be criticized for not risking their careers and the livelihood of their families, in an almost certainly futile attempt at “whistle-blowing”… especially by anyone never confronted by such a challenge.
-The real point is, humans are imperfect and life is complicated.
– If what America has seen the past 8 years or so can happen while all these dedicated employees were in place, what will happen the next time a corrupt leadership is in office?
