Interference in the eye of the beHolder aka “wingman“
– Has anybody noticed? “Righteous” Bob Mueller supposedly signed on for the arduous task of determining if there was any “collusion” or interference by Russia in the 2016 election (you know, similar to Obama’ s previous interference in the UK’s “Brexit” vote or the Israel prime minister election — signalling, propagandizing, facilitating opposition).
Now it kinda looks like since there apparently was no ‘collusion’ by the Trump campaign, Bob’s moved on . . . to “obstruction’.
Hey Bob! Don’t go. There WAS “Russian interference”, and even some “collusion”! Whole lot of it by all indications…but not where you were lookin’.
Righteous Bob’s ‘rigorous investigation’ recalls what is known as “the streetlight effect”: Observational bias that is seen when one searches for something and looks only where it is easiest. (or most desired to find)
Based on an old joke, recounted here from Wikipedia:
“A policeman sees a drunk man searching for something under a streetlight and asks what the drunk has lost. He says he lost his keys and they both look under the streetlight together. After a few minutes the policeman asks if he is sure he lost them here, and the drunk replies, no, and that he lost them in the park. The policeman asks why he is searching here, and the drunk replies, “this is where the light is”.
Our version of the “Mueller Streetlight Effect”:
- A “special counsel” (SC), drunk with power, is seen searching for evidence of “collusion” on the part of a Republican president.
- A citizen notices that, after a long , fruitless search, the SC gives up and goes on to search for evidence of some other bit of wrongdoing by the Republican president.The citizen calls after the special counsel, “There’s a whole lot of evidence of ‘collusion’ over there. How come you didn’t look into that?
- The slightly tipsy Special Counsel replies, “…not my job, ‘ those are Democrats.”

“Since 1987 …(production of known ozone-destroying chemicals)…has been banned. (Ozone in the atmosphere absorbs hazardous radiation from the sun that can damage DNA and heighten the risk of cancer and other health problems.)
“…as a result, the ozone layer in the …polar region is recovering…(scientists say)…
“In the new analysis, however, scientists detected a drop in the amount of ozone…over the Earth’s non-polar regions where most of the population lives.”
“It means we are not seeing a recovery”, (said an apparently very surprised), data scientist.
“The ozone layer at mid-levels is at least as bad as it has ever been”.

WE MAY HAVE A GAP IN OUR KNOWLEDGE”, said atmospheric scientist Daan Hubert.

LET’S TAKE A VOTE ON THAT! (Like “climate change”, if more than 50% of scientists agree, THEN THERE AIN’T NO GAP IN THEIR KNOWLEDGE!! (the reasoning of climate change alarmists)

-Share their opposition to US recognition of Jerusalem as Israel’s Capital (That’s a shocker!)
– “Meeting showed need for dialogue and negotiation with respect for human rights and international law
-Only issue specified, however, was the question of Jerusalem
– The leaders also discussed ‘xenophobia’, ‘Islamophobia’, and the “linking of terrorism to religion” (Didn’t see a reference to “Christianophobia”)
– Oh, and by the way, the statement didn’t indicate whether the two had discussed January’s attacks by Turkey and allied Syrian rebels against Kurdish militia units… (Wonder why)
– the statement also did not indicate whether Pope Francis handed out another of the “Angel of Peace” medals he’s given other leaders, including Vladimir Putin and Mahmoud Abbas of the Palestinian Authority.
One thing we are pretty sure of, President Trump has not been nor never will be presented with the “Angel of Peace” medal by this Pontiff! DLH
