So I just finished watching the 4th season of the Amazon produced detective series Bosch. The writers have constructed the series as a bit of an amalgam of the Michael Connelly series of “Bosch” books. I have only read one of the books so I do not know how accurately the Amazon rendition captures Connelly vs the screen adapters “philosophizing”. However Connelly is a producer, and consultant. With that disclaimer about this entertaining film noir (without the sex) there was a lot of truth about the mindset of “progressives” expressed in the last few moments of the last episode .
LA Councilman Walker (shown) is the prime villain, including being the perp and arranger of multiple murders. He is a trust fund baby but also a manipulator, LA liberal, power and wealth aggrandizer who uses people and disposes of them as he sees fit. Without getting into the entire plot development the take-away for this commentary revolves around the denouement scene where Walker rationalizes his ways:
Some people are the guardians of progress, we build the cities, we walk you into the future. Sometimes other people get in the way . . .
A classic rendition of progressive – socialist – Marxist – managed society rationalizations … and why they are so dangerous.
The expose’ in that bit of dialogue is not isolated. The”justice” protestors (racial politics are intertwined in the story line) are portrayed as cynical, special pleading twits, in turn evoking cynicism from the street cops as portrayed, with the higher-up political types as manipulative, duplicitous politically correct creeps. That’s LA for you and other big cities and wannabes.
