- Cavuto Knows Who the New Paymasters are
- Leads Show With Criticism of Trump Over Attack on “Hero McCain”
Neil Cavuto could hardly contain his glee over what he considers to be a major stumble by Trump.
Since the public revelation of how aggressively the late senator spread around the media, and Washington, the now discredited “Steele Dossier”, by which the Hillary campaign and the Deep State hoped to destroy Trump, the media has been salivating over what they expected Trump’s reaction would be.
They weren’t disappointed this week.
When asked by a reporter about his criticism of McCain from earlier in the week, Trump reiterated his lack of fondness for the senator.
“Whoopee!”, Cavuto undoubtedly cried. “Trump’s tweets have done it this time! And now his confirmation of his dislike for “a great American” has at last, done him in”. That can be reasonably assumed to be Cavuto’s reaction, judging from his on air behavior.
He followed up on his rather unrestrained report by having three guests on to discuss this latest ‘presidential outrage’…two liberals and a pro-McCain “Republican”.
As expected they all agreed: a) John McCain was one of America’s greatest war heroes ever, b) Everybody in America, and the world, thought so, and revere him, and Donald Trump is the ‘worst person’ to have ever occupied the Oval Office.
Like Sara Lee, ‘Nobody don’t like John McCain’.
Well, not exactly every one considers the late senator our nation’s greatest ‘war hero’.
We’ve noted in previous posts that, however McCain’s behavior in captivity in North Vietnam will, perhaps eventually be fully known, there are various aspects of his life both before and after Vietnam that would not be considered ‘honorable’ or so praiseworthy. An undistinguished academic record as a Naval Academy midshipman; a “hot dog’ pilot whose antics may have had very tragic consequences, a very unseemly marital record following his return from North Vietnam; embarrassing opportunism throughout his political career; an extraordinarily poor performance as a presidential candidate and a campaign that was as damaging, or moreso to his own party’s ‘downticket’ candidates than toward his and his party’s opposition.
So intent is preserving a media-loving image as a “maverick’ within his own party, McCain often disappointed even his own Arizona constituency (other than his moneyed donors) , with perhaps his most dishonest action, for which Trump is properly most critical… his decisive vote to repudiate his party’s, and his own, definitive campaign promise…to repeal Obamacare!
In many ways, and with some regret that a putative “American Hero’ is, in our view, petty, disloyal to the people who supported him, and, a man who even as he left the public stage…and this world forever, could not restrain from trying to discredit and undermine, the elected leader of the United States of America, the nation he claimed to love.
Oh…and to Neil Cavuto, it looks like you’re going to be fine under the leadership of “The New Fox”…featuring Paul Ryan, and the liberal Murdoch boys! DLH
