What ever happened to “Kavanaugh” Graham?

We couldn’t agree more with Senator Paul on this one

We thought Senator Richard Burr, nominal chairman of the Senate Intelligence (talk about a misnomer) Committee (that’s the one run by the ranking Dem member, Mark Warner) was the most ineffective, duplicitous GOP committee chairman in memory, but Senator Graham seems to be giving him a run for his money…or someone’s money.

Sadly, we thought Lindsey Graham was a staunch conservative now that he was no longer under the influence of John McCain. As incoming Chairman of the Judiciary Committee, and based on his very admirable performance in the Kavanaugh hearings, we expected that Graham would provide a very effective counterweight to the insane House impeachment travesty.

But…nothing…hasn’t subpoenaed witnesses,  such as the various State Dept. Anti- Trumpers that Adam Schitt has tried to exploit, etc, etc

Does Senator Graham have an agenda, well-hidden, that conservatives and supporters of the GOP president don’t know about?     dlh

Senator Rand Paul Calls-Out Chairman Lindsey Graham for Doing Nothing Except Protecting the “Deep State”…

Posted on October 21, 2019by sundance*
Finally….. Senator Rand Paul directly calls-out Senator Lindsey Graham, Chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committee for doing absolutely NOTHING.  At a certain point it becomes necessary to accept willful blindness for what it is…. Senator Graham wants to protect the Deep State more than Senator Graham wants to protect a constitutional republic.

It’s worth noting that Senator Rand Paul’s statement comes out at the same time Senator Lindsey Graham has said he will support* the impeachment of President Trump as soon as the articles reach the Senate for trial.

From The Daily Torch (Americans for Limited Government)  — Robert Romano writing

Sen. Lindsey Graham must call the anonymous CIA so-called whistleblower to testify if the House impeaches President Trump  (excerpt)

By now, it is perfectly clear that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) has absolutely no intention of affording any due process to President Donald Trump or any member of the executive branch called to testify in her quest to impeach and remove the President from office. . . .

But the House is just one body. The Senate is completely in control of its witnesses in an impeachment trial, and does not have to play by those Pelosi-imagined rules that part ways with all modern cases of impeachment. It can — and must — provide the due process that Pelosi and House Democrats are depriving the nation of. . . .

Rule VI of the Senate’s states clearly, “The Senate shall have power to compel the attendance of witnesses, to enforce obedience to its orders, mandates, writs, precepts, and judgment, to preserve order, and to punish in a summary way contempts of, and disobedience to, its authority, orders, mandates, writs, precepts, or judgements, and to make all lawful orders, rules, and regulations which it may deem essential or conducive to the ends of justice.”  . . .

This is not some kangaroo court or some trivial matter, after all, this is about whether to overturn an election via legislative means. Instead, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Lindsey Graham should send a strong message to Speaker Pelosi that he intends to specifically allow for the questioning by all parties of any and every witness the House uses, including the anonymous whistleblower and whoever in Congress or on staff helped write his memo.

Rush’s opening statement today was superb and to the point

Every Republican ought to be defending Trump

If they can’t then they should at least be attacking Democrats.

We will excerpt  his opening comments after the transcript is posted

* Reading the linked USA Today article — in fairness Graham was a little more nuanced than sundance gives him credit  for —  sundance allowing only a pull quote that  ‘he will support’.
